shareYou can assume it will only get a Quebec release, aside from maybe (but doubtfully) a few theatres in Toronto. It's in French, and the Anglophones (Well... Anglophones in general would prefer dubbing, or better yet, movies in English)in the country are too lazy to ever read subtitles, plus we are entirely too unsupportive of our own cinema.
sharedaaaammit. I really hope that it gets released on DVD in Quebec at least...wouldn't it *have* to have subtitles in english then, as most of the DVD's released for Anglophones include either a french track or french captions/subtitles? I'm not entirely sure on how all of that works.
shareBy law DVDs released in Quebec have to have English subtitles. The movie could very well have a national DVD release, like C.R.A.Z.Y. did, but if not you would be able to find the Quebec version on Amazon.ca (That's where I got my Quebec version of C.R.A.Z.Y. before it had a national release).

wow so dramatichorror, you couldnt be more wrong...i actually perfer the subtitles to the dubbing, the dubbing gets annoying and distracting. Reading i find is much easier and about 30 minutes into the movie you dont even realize you're reading. So please do not make generaliztions of the anglophones in this country, because you couldnt have been more wrong. Why do you automatically assume that the English speaking people of the country don't respect the culture of the French-Candians?? So again please refrain from making such generaliztions on public boards.
shareYes I agree, I much prefer subtitles to dubbing. It is far less distracting. I hope this movie is also shown in cinemas outside of Quebec, I don't want to have to wait for the dvd!!

shareI generalize because for the most part it's true. It's sterotypical, yes, but stereotypes exist for a reason. I worked in a video store for two years and every time a foreign movie would come out people would ask me if it was dubbed, and when I told them the movie was only subtitled they would basically sneer at me "nevermind" and have me put the movie back on the shelf. Yes, there are some that don't mind, even love subtitled movies (myself included), but the vast majority in Canada do not, which is a very very unfortunate thing.
