Scary and a bit disturbing

This movie is well-done. I'm watching it and it's definitely getting to me. It's disturbing, but I wish they had shown more of David's character before he died. Rosie was talking about how he was stubborn and always had to have his way, but we never really got tosee that except for when he and Sarah were hiding his shoes and he said "No, Sarah! I'll do it!" I kind of wish we could have seen more of his stubborness. All in all, well acted and well done, and a bit disturbing to top it off.

I'm confused...what exactly happened at the end?

i was confused too! but i think at the end Sarah was dying, and for her to get better, her mother had to have a boy so David could be reborn again. So thats why Heather got mad when they said it was a girl. But then she had the boy and so it was supposed to be David, even though it was named Jack. That's when Sarah woke up and got better. Then when it said A YEAR LATER, she was telling the baby (David) that SHE was in charge now. Also the twin sisters were talking about how everyone has a secret twin, im guessing that David and Sarah were secret twins since they could "read each others thoughts". if anyone has a better explaination of what happened PLEASE TELL ME.

Ummm.... you people are giving away the entire movie to those of us that haven't yet seen it!!!!

The you really shouldn't be reading the boards about the movie until you HAVE seen it. That's what these boards are about discussing the movie, characters etc

Yes, it was a bit confusing. But this is what I got from it (of course I may be wrong). The mother was trying to save her daughter, Sarah's, life by trying to induce labor so David's spirit could take hold of the baby's and let go of Sarah's. But, the mother had a baby girl when they were all expecting it to be a boy, and Sarah didn't get better right then. Then the doctor announces the mother was in fact having twins and there was another baby coming, which turned out to be the boy they were expecting. Then Sarah was 'set free'. Later at the end, the mother and aunt where standing over the baby boy's crib talking about how the little boy (which they'd named Jack) was nothing at all like David, so they assumed David crossed over and didn't take over the baby boy. But, then right after they left, you see Sarah look into a crib and tell the baby, 'I'm in control now, David.' If you pay attention, the baby in the crib is dressed in pinks, so I'm assuming that she was talking to the baby girl, and that David took over the little girl's body, not her twin brother Jack's.

Two problems with this, I know. First, why did Sarah get better only after the boy was born? Second, and most puzzling to me throughout the movie, if David's spirit let Sarah die, then what would've happened to him? Wouldn't he want to keep her living long enough for her mother to give birth naturally? Whether he was impatient or not, better to keep Sarah living then to let go of his only grasp on life. At least until he had a replacement life force, right???

Also, I don't care what the mother's sister did to make up everything, just what she did to begin with, all she did behind her sister's (Sarah's mother's) back, and the risk she put Sarah in would make it enough for me to not be all happy and celebrating Halloween with her at the end like nothing happened. Plus, do you think you could really raise a child normally that you think could possibly be your dead nephew after everything he did to both you and your daughter?

You got it right...Or at least in my opinion.

As for your questions...This is how I understood it. When a spirit grabs hold to someone living, it's only a matter of time before that person dies... Whether it be through something like starving or falling off a building (as it happened to Sarah). That's how I understood it when Sarah's mom (I want to say Erica but I only saw it the first time it came out) is reading the book towards the end. Where she's in the library and she sees that picture of a guy with bruised handprints on his back...

This is the way I understood it. I realize it's somewhat scattered but I was also a little confused...

Better to be without anyone, then to be with someone other then your true love.

The reason Sarah didn't get better until the baby boy was born, because, what guy in his right mind would want to die as a guy, and come back as a girl? Also, at the end of the movie, when Sarah is talking to Jack, he's the one closest to her, and he's in blue. The camera angle was probably different in one shot, making you think it was the other way around. By the way, did you notice how when Sarah said, "David," the baby turned his head and looked at her? Just some extra trivia.

One more thing, Erica and Heather both thought Jack wasn't David, so the comment on raising a baby that could possibly be your dead nephew, wouldn't have phased them at all. And the whole incident had happened a year before, so I didn't find it surprising at all that they had made up...

And it wasn't really Heather's fault. She couldn't control David. And although she could've controled her grief in a better manner, I understand that she was in depressed, even though she didn't show it.

*** Spoilers ***

re: David killing Sarah... When Sarah was in a trance he said he would rather play hide and seek then let Sarah go. So the little snot would have killed Sarah _knowingly_ if he didn't get re-born.

As a side, it's sad that Sarah is now a little evil. Yeah, I know what's been posted, but really believe that she was warped by the whole thing and is (or is becoming) evil. Sniff.

P.S. I'll email hollywoodgirl-1 and see if she can edit her post to say spoilers in this topic.

When sarah is looking through the bars it is dark and it is unclear what color the bedding is, but when you get to look down at the baby from above, the blanket underneath him is clearly blue.

Also i did not really take it as David trying to kill Sarah. I took it as Sarah is exhausted and tired of fighting with david over her body so since david told her it didnt hurt when he died, she attempts suicide. The doctor said it is up to sarah, meaning she has to fight/want to live to come through. She didnt want to until David left her and that is why she starts to get better as soon as the baby boy is born and David has left her.
