who I would cast in the film version...

Sean Patrick Flannery/Tom Hansen

Karel Roden/Dr. Victor Kamsky

Olga Sosnovska(Fiona/MI-5)/ Anna Kamsky

Jeffrey Combs/ CIA Agent Jason Bennett

Director: Neil Marshall

Creature EFX: Patrick Tatopoulos

any thoughts?

reply

actually, thats pretty good. i'm a big fan of Sean Patrick Flannery (have you seen suicide kings?), so thats a good call, if not him than i'd say Thomas Jane. i luv your choice of director too. nice taste bro

reply

actually, I'm a female.

reply

woops! excus-ie mioa mon sha-ree.
my apologies.
nice taste non the less

reply

thank you.

in the hands of the right director, this could be an effective horror film.

reply

for sure - its an excellent story, and the surroundings are real creepy.

reply

agreed.

reply

i was thinking the other day, if not Sean, then maybe Stephen Dorf???

reply

can't picture him as Tom Hansen.

how about Neal McDonough?

reply

he's definately got the hair

reply

Dorff or McDonough?

reply

McDonough

reply

if not Flannery or McDonough, hopefull they will cast someone APPROPRIATE for the role.

not a LEFT FIELD choice like Olyphant for Hitman.

reply

as left field as that was - from the previews he looks like he might actually pull it off...

reply

I didn't see Hitman, but heard both positive/negative reviews from friends.

reply

i'll see it when it comes to DVD

reply

I'll catch it on cable.

wonder when more news will come out about the upcoming Cold Fear movie.

as long as Uwe Boll isn't allowed NOWHERE NEAR IT, I'm good.

Saw the new trailer for the film version of Far Cry, it looks pretty bad.

reply

i dont understand how he can still be allowed to make movies. sorry, i should say "murder" movies...

reply

it does BOGGLE the mind.

I heard In the Name of the King, BloodRayne 2, and Seed all were laughingly bad.

Alone in the Dark 2 and Far Cry will surely be more of the same.

reply

well, alone in the dark 2 is already laughable, the main charater Edward Carnaby is all of a sudden Asian???? they should of just changed the lead characters name and said Edwards is dead or something...

reply

Oh yeah, Rick Yune showed up with Uwe Boll at the NJ Fangoria Con in 2007.

when he announced that Yune will be playing Carnaby everyone was like "WTF?"

Christian Slater passed on the sequel, smart move.

reply

you know, i'm a big Christian Slater fan, and Stephen Dorff is a great actor too. such a shame that their doing such B & even C grade movies now - even great actors like Val Kilmer is doing stinkers! (sorry, just thrw Val in there, just cause I like him). I was never a big fan of Tara Reid, she seems like such a ditz, but she was ok in American Pie. But Christian and Stephen gave me hope to Alone in The Dark, i think that add to the dissapoinment. I heard somewhere that Uwe Bole said he'd retire if a million people signed a partition - dont think that will take long if its true

reply

Dorff is currently shooting Public Enemies, directed by Michael Mann. Hopefully more hi profile projects will come his way.

Christian Slater has been more fortunate.

Uwe Boll aside, he still manages to be cast in big studio fare like The Good Shepherd.

And more recently Bobby.

reply

kewl. Michael Mann movies rock!

The Good Sheperd wasnt that great, havent seen Bobby yet - any good?

reply

Bobby was a decent film, with a nice ensemble cast.

reply

I shall have to give it a watch them. on your merrit. so if it sux, i'm coming after you girl!! ;-)

reply

LMA0!

Uh, the film version of CF has been "in development" for a while now.

yes still no news on casting, writing or a director.

In fact quite a few VG film adaptations have STALLED...

The Suffering

Splinter Cell

Halo

Gears of War(after Lem Wiseman left the project)

Spyhunter(are John Woo and The Rock still attached?)

What gives?

reply

ooo ha hooo baby - i so want to see these films off the ground. they all have massive potential. just hope hollywood doesnt murder them aka house of the dead, doom.. need i go on

reply

well it's been more MISS than HIT with VG film adaptations so far.

lets hope for the best.

reply

you know we have filled 3 pages just between u and i rambling - thats pretty good going!!

reply

yeah I just noticed that.

still no word about this film yet, what gives?

Btw, I saw the trailer for Max Payne and threw up a little in my mouth.

Mark Wahlberg?

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHY?!

reply

also heard its going to be PG13. Max Payne is definately NOT PG 13. the games were violent and explicict - not for kids, so neither should the movie in my opinion.

i actually dont mind Mark Whalberg, he was great in The Departed..
here's hoping

reply

PG-13?!

@##$$$##@@!!@@#@@###@!@#$#@!@!!!!!!

reply

HHHHHHAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!

Yeh, my sentiments exactly

reply

another VG butt raped with a crappy ass movie.

reply

hahahaaha!!! good call! luv ur direct-ness!! dont hold back now

reply

that blockheaded PANTY B0Y has no business playin Max Payne!

reply

from all reports i hear that the movie hardly even reflects the games, apart from keeping the same names.....

reply

I heard Max Payne looks great, but not much else.

reply

i'm still waiting for "the suffering"

reply

I think "The Suffering" film project is pretty much DEAD.

I read that Gears of War will be a prequel film though.

reply

never played gears of war. looks good tho. i only have a ps2. saving pennies for a ps3 - hopefully next month i might get one. whats G.O.W like?

reply

my son has the VG, great visuals and action packed.

reply

its only on x-box thought isnt it?

reply

yes, the 360.

reply

hope you had a great x-mas.

bought my son Dead Space and Left 4 Dead for the 360, both are great VG's.

do you think a studio will purchase film rights for either one of these?

Happy New Year!

reply

back at you - and a happy new year to you!

yeah, i bought myself a ps3 over the holidays. i bought dead space with it, its awesome. i even rented the cartoon prequel movie, which was quite good. if this doesnt become a movie it'll be a darn shame.

havent played left 4 dead, but being a zombie game, i'm sure theres a director out there somewhere just gagging to do a zombie movie. every time you turn around another dodgy zombie movie is popping out on dvd. geez i've seen some shockers.

hope santa was good to you

reply

Trust me, somebody in Hollywood is scrambling to get the film rights for both of these video games. Especially Left 4 Dead.

due to the box office failure of the 2005 film version of Doom, some studios might shy away from Dead Space. They might wait to see what happens with the Gears of War film.

reply

oh but dead space would be so good. we need a new space horror movie - there hasnt been a good one since alien/aliens. though the latter was more action than horror

reply

Event Horizon was a great scifi film, with elements of horror and action.

nowhere near the AWESOMENESS that was Aliens, but I reallu liked it.

reply

i wasnt that fussed with it to be honest. it started really good, was leading to something really interesting, but just kind of got weird.

but it has been the best thing to come out for sci-fi/horror in recent times, i will give it that. mainly cause everything else sucks

reply

have you seen Danny Boyle's scifi/horror film Sunshine?

reply

ok, i really liked sunshine, but i am a huge Cillian Murhpy and a huge Danny Boyle fan. but i didnt really class it as horror. yeh, the captain of the other ship did loose his skin to sunburn and looked really freaky, then he lost the plot and started killing people. but before he showed up right at the end, there wasnt any other horror elements - so i just considered it sci-fi. but if you consider it sci-fi/horror, then yes its up there with the others

reply

you know what, you're correct about Sunshine.

Prior to the burnt dude going all 80's slasher, it was pretty much a straight forward scifi film.

reply

which sort of spun the whole movie on its ear. great movie tho.
i'm a big horror fan - it takes a real bomb to dissapoint me in the horror genre

reply

speaking of BOMBS...

did you see the Friday the 13th remake yet, if so how did you like it?

I thought is was a terrible remake.

reply

really?
thats disappointing.
i havent seen it as yet, but i was really looking forward to it. i heard really good things, and it was #1 in the US for a while.

dont think its out here in Australia yet

reply

the Australia release date is March 12th.

reply

man, we are ssooooo far behind.
where are you from?

reply

New York City.

reply

ah, the hub central!
I'm from Brisbane, Australia. not quite the hub central of Oz, but we're getting there.

reply

what did you think of the film Australia with Kidman and Hugh Jackman?

haven't seen it, but read that many Aussies hated the movie.

reply

i havent seen it either. it didnt really look like my sort of movie. if its not horror/thriller/action/sci-fi or a really funny comedy (I'll even settle for rom-com's if their funny enough) then i'm not interested in rushing out to see it. i'll see it when it comes to DVD. i have heard mixed reviews though, they either love it or hate it. doesnt seem to be many people who thinks its "ok", so it must be one of those movies.

reply

So are you going the checkout The Watchman?

reply

that I'm actually pretty keen to see. I havent been totally impressed with to many comic adaptions, but it looks really good. plus i like 300 and his dawn of the dead remake, so it cant suck to bad. i try not to see anything with high expections, you normally get let down.
is it on your "to see" list?

reply

plan to check it out on Saturday.

reply

be sure to give me your official review

reply

Watchman is a solid comic book film, which relies more on chracter driven stories. As opposed to an action scene/explosion every 10 mins.

Great cast and performances, with the exception of Malik Ackerman and Matthew Goode. Who played Ozymadias and Silk Spectre II, both were DREADFUL.

Definitely recommend you check it out when it hits Austrailia.

reply

I'll be sure to see it.
Have you seen the unborn or the univited?
either any good?

reply

I haven't seen either one, but my sister did.

She said they were both PG-13 teen angst ridden TURDS, which I hate.

reply

bugga! they looked good in the ads.

"angst ridden TURDS" - nice one. i'd like to see that written in a movie review

reply

with Twilight being a major sucess, expect more TURDS of that ilk to follow.

The thought of vampires sparkling in sunlight makes me want to cry, how the hell did it get to this point?

who thought this was a good idea for a horror franchise?

reply

is it horror? i thought it was a rom-com

reply

actually, it's more Fantasy/Drama, with EM0 Angst ridden SISSY teen Vampires.

the main story being a romance between one of the vamps and a teen girl...UGH!

reply

I'm having major deja vu... have we had this conversation before?

reply

LOL!

Right now, I'm just hopin that "Wolverine" lives up to all the hype.

reply

it looks good.

i'm a big Hugh Jackman fan, and a huge Ryan Renholds fan. do you know if Ryan's character is good or bad? or if he has much screen time?

reply

a workprint of Wolverine was leaked on the internet last week.

co-worker loaned me a dvd copy, watched it on Thursday.

Love Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but this film was a major disappointment.

Ryan Reynolds plays Wade Williams/Deadpool, a wise cracking mutant mercenary.

A role that was perfect for him, yet he had so little screentime.

reply

shame, he's good in action films, yet so under used.

so Miss New York, mother of 1? online movie critic and avid game to movie franchise follower - how old are you? if you dont mind me asking?

reply

45 yrs old.

reply

kewl. i figured after 9 pages, it would be nice to know a bit more about who I'm talking to (can you call it talking?).

I'm 28. my names Rocky. no, its not my "birth certified" name - thats Ryan. but I've been called that since I was in the womb, so it stuck.

so you say you know of these games from your son? come on, admit it, you've played them too????!!!

reply

Well I do own a PS2, haven't played regularly in a long while though.

Want to eventually upgrade to a PS3, just waiting for Sony to drop the price down some more.

when both consoles were about to be released a few yrs back, decided to get the 360 for my son 1st. So I reserved it early, along with a few "launch" titles and made payments on the bundle.

At this point I live vicariously through my son, occasionally watch him play and sometimes join in.

reply

get into them, its good fun

reply

Been tryin to seriously get back into playing VG's again. Usually after work I'm so tired when I get home.

So have you seen Wolverine yet?

reply

no, not yet.
I have 4 rugrats, so the wife and I don't get much time to go to the movies. We normally have to wait till movies come to DVD.

heard mixed reviews - still pumped to see it though

reply

Oh I see, things must get pretty hectic at times.

when you finally do, let me know your thoughts on the film.

reply

for sure. was up late a few weekends ago, and switched off the ps3 and the ellen show was on. she was interviewing ryan renolds, and he got up and did a little duel sword wielding demo. i was rather impressed - hope he puts those skills to good use in future movies

reply

Reynolds will get his chance.

Along with a Wolverine sequel,F0X will also produce a Deadpool spinoff with him the lead role.

reply

well thats some seriously good news

reply

Hi!

it's been I while since I posted here, hope you're well.

Saw Terminator: Salvation last *beep* SANDWICH!

reply

that seems to be the general consesus. which is a shame, i had high hopes that this might save the franchise after the sh*t storm that was "rise of the machines".

i have heard star trek is really good - you seen that yet?

reply

not a fan of JJ Abrams these days, so I passed on Star Trek.

Terminator:Salvation didn't live up to the hype.

The trailer is better that the entire film.

reply

what do you have against JJ?
I like most of his stuff - big fan of lost. though i think it has run its course now.

really looking forward to what JJ does with Stephen Kings novels of "The Dark Tower"

reply

hated MI-3 and Lost went into the toilet the 3rd season.

It became the Sawyer/Kate/Jack show, at the expense of other characters.

That and Mr.Eko's death caused me to stop watching.

reply

I still like lost, but dont get to watch now that our stupid channel that airs it puts it on at 11 0'clock at night - and i just cant be bothered staying up that late after a hard day at it.

I normally tape it, but I forgot a couple of times, and have now given up.

So, what movies/tv shows do you like?

reply

Supernatural

Burn Notice(have to catch up on this one)

True Blood

Smallville: I'm barely hangin on to this show, it really took a hit when both Lex and Lionel Luthor were written off.

Nip/Tuck

Also was a huge fan of "The Shield" which recenly ended it's seven yr run.

reply

ah yes, supernatural does kick ass. you a Sam or Dean fan?
my missus loves Dean, I think Sam's kewl cause he has that demon blood thing going on.

Burn Notice was awesome, but they've stopped showing it over here.

True Blood has never made to this side of the ocean, hoping it will though,it sounds good from what I've read.

I thought the idea of Smallville was silly, so avoided it to begin with. but I have seen some episodes and I'm considering renting out the 1st few seasons.

Never bothered with Nip/Tuck and the shield, they just never grabbed my attention.

is Harper's Island still going over there. it was on a 9pm slot on Sundays here, but got dropped back to a 1am slot. so we dont see it unless we tape it

reply

I like both Winchester Bros, but Castiel has my heart right now.

Sammy is on my *beep* list, because of the demon blood drinking thing.

Harper's Island moved from Thursday to Saturday here in the States.

watched the premiere eppy, decent gore but the characters are too bland.

just couldn't get into it.

The 1st five seasons of Smallville are great, the show began to slip after that.

reply

we're only up to "On the head of a pin" with Supernatural. was on last night. that episode was really good.

I heard a rumor that "one of the brothers will die for good this season". do you think its true?
if it is, do you think their grooming Castiel to become a main character?
I'm glad Uriel got his - he was pissing me off.

I'm enjoying Harper's Island - just for the sheer fact that I like horror/thrillers. its fun

reply

Castiel will become a series regular for thr 5th season.

haven't heard anything about Sam or Dean dying this upcoming season.

I hated Uriel too.

reply

well, it better be a *beep* rumor - supernatural doesnt work without both of them

reply

Eric Kripke is no fool, he knows the bros are a package dead with SN fans.

reply

this is true.

say, heard anything on the "cold fear" movie?
and did you hear resident evil 4 has been green lit?

reply

yeah I read about RE4, not very excited about that.

especially since Carlos was killed off in the last film.

according to imdb, Cold Fear is still in the early stages of development.

reply

yeh, they killed off all male characters - that sux.
there was a rumor a while back that Jensen Ackles would be in #4 playing Leon Kennedy. It was even on the IMDB RE:4 site. but that has since been taken down....

Cold Fear needs a push along. I saw "Far Cry" as a coming soon in the video store the other night, sadly I'm sure that will be another giant pile of steaming turds!!

reply

Saw the trailer for Far Cry once, pure *beep*

Toilet B0LL is doing another Blood Rayne sequel.

"Blood Rayne: Warhammer"

I got nothin...

reply

finally saw the season finale of supernatural last night. while it was good, it just didnt have the "oh my god, what happens next" feel to it. was it just me? or did it not have that bang!!???

reply

no it's not just you, there wasn't no BANG moment.

You pretty much knew how it was going to play out, especially with dumb a$$ Sammy being betrayed by the SHE BITCH.

But watching Dean gut Ruby like a fish was AWESOME.

reply

yeah, must admit there was much satisfaction to be had watching that.
evil double crossing little whore!!!!

i was kinda hoping Sam would go off the deep end and become a monster, then with the next season Dean could try to find a way to bring him back, while Sam would think Dean was hunting him

reply

I was hopin for Lucifer to inhabit Sam's Body.

Then Dean would try to find a way to him back to hell, w/o killing his brother. With Castiel and Bobby's help.

reply
