I think they are both equally good but for different reasons.
There's no doubt that Streets had much more original and interesting dancing.
However, I prefer Step Up 1's story. I saw Step Up 2 only for the dancing before I ever even saw the original..I thought the dancing was great but the story was mediocre. Although the chick is very sexy.
I just saw the first one tonight and I thought the dancing was a bit boring but it had a better story..I think the second one was meant to be more about cool moves and such.

i agree that the dance choreography was better in step up 2 but i think it is a real pitty that they couldnt get the same actors
i know that Channing Tatum was in it for a bit but Jenna Dewan is such an amazing actress and dancer it is a pity she cudn't do it!

the dance moves where used over and over in the movie. it was just like all the other hip hop dance movie. lets see honey, just got served, take the lead. step up one dance was like ball room mixed with ballet and hip hop. sure it was kind of like save the last dance but it was so fresh. the story and acting was a lot better in step up one. character are so much better. the plot line in step up 2 made me fall a sleep and the dancing was reused.
share^ Take The Lead is ballroom, there's like one scene where they do hip hop and that's just meant to be a party rather than choreography. And there's no ballroom in Step Up and it's nothing like Save The Last Dance :S.

well when tyler and nora dance together it was ballroom. it kind of reminded me of dirty dancing. all the lifts and stuff was ballroom.
share^ It wasn't ballroom it was a kind of jazz ballet or modern ballet. You have lifts in most styles of dancing not just ballroom.

For me The best step up is the First one
non of the step ups have great acting or story but the first one has the best music and best dance style.
comparing the closing number in the three movies
The Firts one wins, the choreography was cleaner more precise had more feeling and better music.
stepup 2 the streest
the music was too Loud and choreography left me dissapointed
at the begining of this number looked great woww they are going to dance in the rain but then mehhh didnt love it.

sorry but Horrible closing number
i didnt like the music , the dancing it looked like everyone was doing whatvere they wanted.
Without this one there wouldn't have been a SU2TS.
