Neither this nor that.

What a strange movie.

It has the sensibilities of an indie flick (concentrating on situation and character more than story), but the production values, the feel of a major studio release.

Unfortunately, this hybrid is sunk by its script.

Because the screenplay doesn't know what it is, either. It's not got enough of the 'indie' way about it (strong examination of character) so it doesn't have the benefits of that approach to moviemaking going for it...and it falls down badly in its storytelling, with bad execution, nonsensical crux moments and a decided lack of cohesion.

I was charmed by this film at first. I really believed I was going to end up really enjoying it. It had some lovely elements to it. But because it was neither this, nor that...it ended up being hardly anything at all.

Personal rating: 6/10.
