I grew up in Manzanita and now live in LA...interesting...kind of reverse from the movie synopsis. My parents owned the only ocean front motel in town for years.
I grew up with the stories of the "Beeswax Treasure", so it will be fun to see it as a movie.
Whoever the writer is must be a former resident of the northern Oregon Coast, because that legend is not too widely known.

On of the writers, director Jane Hall, grew up in Portland and has been going to Manzanita since she was a child. She and her husband, co-writer and producer Richard Doyon, have spent time together there for the last 20 years. We wrote much of the screenplay sitting in our cabin in the rain in Manzanita.

It is a great setting for a story and we hope you will enjoy the film.

Just went to my reunion in Nehalem over the summer...
Still amazes me that Manzanita will be the setting of a movie, the little coastal village I know from my childhood...I spent 6 years growing up there when my parents owned the Sunset Surf (was Ocean Park at that time.. late 70's early 80's). Closest Mazanita came to being in a movie was Goonies in Cannon Beach and that awful Hudson Brothers film.
I moved to LA a few years ago to pursue acting...wish I would have known about this, would have been cool for me to try out for it.
Looking forward to seeing it.

I was looking forward to this too, but now I'm not sure when I'll be able to see it...I haven't heard a thing.

I saw it with my family at the Newport Festival of Films and we all loved it. Great, real, down-to-earth acting and story. Beautiful country (is it really that beautiful up there), wonderful puppets and elk footage. A film for both adults and kids.

When will the general public be able to view this film? I can't wait to see it!
