The Rating proves that...

...there cant be many real simpsons fans out there....this adaption sucks and fails at every possible occasion....neither does it feel nor look like the simpsons at all
it was extrtemely watered down ,soft and infantile starting with ralph wiggum in the opening credits and professor frink...i almost never post about films i disliked but this really neded to be said....you may even enjoy it but dont say it succeeds at a movie adaption of the cult tv show...to make a long story short: EXTREMELY disappointing
glad that theres folks out there that do agree

They hate us 'cause they ain't us

How many successful adaptations of cult TV series have there been? How successful was Scooby Doo, Beavis and Butthead, Bewitched, others?

The reason is not only different audience demographics, but in making and editing a movie, the filmmakers become focused on making things fit together within the movie itself. It's an all consuming focus. They can't just put things in for honorable mention. The story falls apart.

It is my impression from reading their comments, that the difficulty the staff had in making a widely appealing movie, within the Simpsons world and style, is the reason they're so leery about making another movie.

The Beavis and Butt-head movie was pretty good.

reply

I completely agree. This movie was trash! It felt more like The Three Stooges than The Simpsons.

What rating, your personal rating? It's rated 7.3 on IMDB from 300,000 voters, 80 on Metacritic, on RT 88% (221 critics) and 77% audience score (2 million ratings). I love The Simpsons and have been a fan since the beginning and thought the movie was pretty good--not great, but good. I don't know what you were bringing to the movie to say that it "doesn't look like the simpsons (sic) at all"! And I would not call The Simpsons a "cult" TV show--way too popular.

Well said 👍

The Simpsons had stopped being funny long before this movie was made.

reply

It's been a few years since I saw this, but I remember this being VERY funny.

Yeah, me too.

I'm a huge Simpsons fan, and I have to disagree. It showed barts dick in the beginning, so definitely a little amped up from the show. It had some dumb moments, but you'd probably say that about any 2 hour chunk of the simpsons.
