DVD

Currently, there are no plans for ITV to release Secret Smile on DVD. I, for one, am not entirely happy with this decision and would like to do something about it. Me and my cousin have set up a petition that we are hoping will collect a fair few signatures, which we will then send to ITV in the hopes that they will listen.

Please help us out!

Talking about tonight's Doctor Who episode (Cybermen) I happened to mention
Secret Smile to my mum. This made me realise how every unreleased (on DVD)
drama or film is sought-after.

But it's on in the US at the end of May

So now more people can record it. Some may even make it back to Blighty.

I only did it because I like eerie, creepy stuff; and because I was intrigued
that a actor known to be a nice-guy was playing a real nasty.

Really interesting that David Tennant plays a convincing, obsessive psycho
like Edward Woodward ("The Wicker Man") in "Uncle Tom's Cabin" shown recently.

I first saw him (Tennant) in "Taking Over The Asylum" with Ken Stott. And he
was easily the great Ken's equal (and this was about ten years ago?).

I have been perstering ITV but they say they are not planning to repeat or release Secret Smile on dvd despite David Tennants huge fan base
I am so so gutted (Have signed the petition btw)

reply

I really hope the petitioning works. Just watched this film and can't wait to it comes out on DVD!

reply

I'm not sure if I am allowed to do this or not but I have a copy of Secret Smile if anyone would like it on dvd. Email me at [email protected]

reply

How have you got it on DVD? I thought it never came out...

reply

I have signed the petition! I really hope ITV does consider it, I'll be heart-broken if they don't.
I saw the first 10 minutes of the whole thing but my mother made me change the channel because she had planned to watch something else.......:o(
Has Casonova been released on DVD? Are there any David Tennant fansites?

Home-made, I expect...

and yes, it is naughty.

Mmmm, naughtiness and David Tennant.........me like! Hee hee

reply

Tch Tch! Just respect the guy's acting ability!

Tennant starred in "Takin'Over The Asylum" when he was
still a teenager and was as good as his more experienced
co-star, Ken Stott, who was as brilliant as ever! I wish I
had THAT series on DVD and would even consider a swap
with my "Secret Smile" one. The Director hasn't a CLUE
about mental illness. I do NOT blame the young actor
who played Troy, who obviously did what he was told (and
paid) to do.

Oh the number one reason "Doctor Who" is so good?
David Tennant? No, but it's a good reason. Ecclestone was as effective.
Billie Piper? A lesson on why to end a career you're awful at
and start one you're superb at and rightly respected for, but no...

Special effects team? Maybe too, but no.

Answer: Russell T. Davies

Takin' Over The Asylum is great, I've seen clips of it on You Tube and most of the first episode - would love to see it in full.
and would you consider copying your Secret Smile DVD? i'm desperate to get a copy of that (and Takin' Over The Asylum of course)

I only copied the show because I like a good thriller. Yes I was intrigued that
David Tennant was in it but because he's a Scottish actor and I'd seen him
ten years before in "Takin' Over The Asylum"; he was to be the new Doctor Who
and I knew he was known for being a nice guy and here he was playing a stalking,
psychotic ex-boyfriend. I'm a straight bloke! You'd probably all still want him
even if he had been like that in real life!

If I'd known I would be faced with this dilemma I would just've watched the thing
and not bothered to record it! It's good in a not-bad sort of way but it's not brilliant!
I mean - if you take away the murders - there are people all over the place like
Brendan Block! I simply don't think it was that original!

We just all like seeing our cutie playing a psycho stalker. It gets interesting.

Plus he doesn't use any accent other than his real one, which is a treat. I'd only heard him previously talk in bloopers from Doctor Who with a Scottish accent. And him singing over the music in Blackpool. *squee*

It's like hearing Hugh Laurie speak as himself and not House. Very eerie if you're not used to it. The British accent usually throws most people off. XD

I beg your pardon; he's not my cutie - I preferred Brendan's sister (the chiropractor). The nurse was nice too.

Can't we respect him for his acting ability AND his adorable freckles?

They're not mutually exclusive!

I agree - Russell T. really knows what he's doing. And new(er) writer, Chris Chibnall, also knows what he's about. Fantastic screen and stage writer - tugging on the heart strings in future episodes.

Signed petition, what's so hard about releasing it????? It would make money for them. There's 300 signatures now.
Couldn't they AT LEAST repeat it???? Then I can tape it.
*sigh*
