the book vs the movie

Hi everyone!

I just watched the tv movie and I really enjoyed it. The book, hovewer, was a lot creepier and really unsettled me. Am I the only one who was really disturbed by the subtle psychological abuse Brendan put Miranda through? Stuff like that always gives me chills. The idea of someone tormenting you without being able to prove it and for no real motive other than that person is insane. I have to mention that toward the end of the book, I was getting tired of Miranda stalking Brendan, constantly talking about him to everyone when all the people he affected were just trying to move on with their lives. I started to think that she'd become a bit wacko herself (strangely, I liked that a lot about the book as well). It was as if he transmitted his obsession to her. The story was so subjective and the main character is very flawed but that made her that much more believable. The Miranda in the movie was a bit more likable and the guy who played Brendan was very creepy and portrayed the character quite convincingly. I also preferred the ending of the movie a bit more (Brendan deserved to be put away for murder, not just assault like in the book). Overall, I believe the adaptation was true to the original work. I'd like to know what others who read the book and saw the movie think they compare. Thanks for your time. :)

"Cheekeeteeta, tell me what's wrong
You're enchained by your own sorrow
In your eyes there is no hope for tomorrow
How I hate to see you like this
There is no way you can deny it
I can see that you're oh so sad, so quiet

Cheekeeteeta, tell me the truth
I'm a shoulder you can cry on
Your best friend, I'm the one you must rely on
You were always sure of yourself
Now I see you've broken a feather
I hope we can patch it up together

Cheekeeteeta, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving
You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Cheekeeteeta, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Cheekeeteeta
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Cheekeeteeta

So the walls came tumbling down
And your love's a blown out candle
All is gone and it seems too hard to handle
Cheekeeteeta, tell me the truth
There is no way you can deny it
I see that you're oh so sad, so quiet

Cheekeeteeta, you and I know
How the heartaches come and they go and the scars they're leaving
You'll be dancing once again and the pain will end
You will have no time for grieving
Cheekeeteeta, you and I cry
But the sun is still in the sky and shining above you
Let me hear you sing once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Cheekeeteeta
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Cheekeeteeta
Try once more like you did before
Sing a new song, Cheekeeteeta"

Sorry, haven't read the book, but I've got the movie.

ABBA's Agnetha Fältskog ("The Blonde one") famously dated her stalker.
Unsurprisingly though, he has been legally banned - for some time now -
from going anywhere near her.

"Oh look - a lovely spider! And it's eating a butterfly!"

I didn't liked the movie at all. The actor they casted for Brendan wasn't the attractive, dangerous Brendan I had in mind. And I didn't liked the death of her brother eather in the movie.

I thought that David Tennant made a much more attractive Brendan than I had imagined him in the book.
