My husband has developed a very unhealthy addiction to SOCOM III. He's spending all his free time playing, ignoring me and our 2 year-old son. He's become very aggressive since playing and seems to have more violence-friendly solutions to minor everyday problems. For example, my son was bit at daycare and normally my husband would have explained to him that pulling the kids hair (which he did after he was bit) was not acceptable and that in the future he would need to inform the teacher and let the child know he did not appreciate the bite. However, the other day he told him to punch the kid in the face next time!!! This is not my husband!

Does anyone else have similar stories?

I don't want a touchy feely wimp...but i dont want an overly aggressive violence obesessed son either.

You people who think that playing these games is just for fun don't realize how they affect your everyday lives. unfortunately you will feel the effects eventually.

You should not bother him so much, maybe clean and cook a bit more than you are doing now instead of worrying about what he does in his spare time.

Well, in all honesty, I used to play the game any free time I could but would always turn it off to go out with a girlfriend or my buddies. I would think that if your husband won't turn the game off to spend time with you then you are not that pleasant to be around.

If i was that unpleasant he wouldn't have stopped playing as much and divorced me by now (just incase you weren't aware that people can get divorced).

I do understand that your life up until now has consisted of girlfriends and "buddies" but us grown-ups have bigger responsiblities, especially when a child is involved.

I just suggest you grow up and have a relationship with someone where you actually have responsibilities. I assume since you refer to "a girlfriend" in the general sense you are incapable of a lasting relationship...I think that shows where your ignorance is coming from.

SO, someone without any experience in marriage or raising children should have nothing stimulating to add to this thread. Since you have no experience in EITHER (I am assuming you would have mentioned either by now) than I suggest you go on with your life, without responsibilities...and remember to speak on things only you know about...only ignorant people profess things they don't know about or have no experience in.

Lasting relationships are for suckers. I may not know about marriage, but I know about life. You and your husband are probably in your early 20's, got married and had kids too soon and are now considered deadbeats to many. You or both of you don't work and smoke and drink too much. This explains why he is playing video games all day and you are searching for answers on a video game site. Good luck with finding a solution for your problem, maybe you should talk to your parents or friends rather than asking socom nerds looking for game cheats.

You know very little about me and my husband. I have not asked anyone here to fix my problem, i was simly trying to see if others had the same problem.

I am done justifying adult reasoning with a twelve-year old. It is obviously a hopeless adventure.

your only hope is for your husband to see him self in the mirror it happened to me I got so obsessed and stressed (laggers,glicthers,bad aim,etc) I would snap at any one any time even if they were close to me.........but I saw my brother act the same way and I saw what I must have looked like scared the hell out of me so if you can find away to show your husband whats he's doing and the damage it's doing maybe he'll change.(note:you definatly have to think on this there's not to many options that makes every one happy)

p.s. ur kid sounded like a pusssy. what i would do is bring him out and show him the real world and be like look kid, u either kill or be killed. and give him steroids, this way, if some kid bites him ur kid will eliminate him from the equation.

So what sometimes the only thing people respect is violence... let ur son defend himself some hannibal lecter SOB tries bitin me im kickin his ass.Granted im 20 years older then ur son has sumthin 2 do w/ it but its general principle.
