Single player campaign is disappointing, in my opinion.

I honestly can't say I'm impressed with the third installment so far. The graphics seem to be lacking, the terrorists couldn't shoot straight if their life depended on it. Maybe it's just me, but as far as single player goes, the first two games are far superior.

I hate to say it... but im gonna have to agree with you. I think socom II was by far the best. I just bought S3 on tuesday and i have yet to play online but from friends i have heard its very good. My favorite thing in this game though is the ability to put mods on your weapon before going on the mission. thats pretty sweet.

p.s. is there a reverse button when driving the vehicles?

reply

Agreed. SOCOM II single player was better than this one. It seemed more challenging. L1 is the reverse for the vehicles.

sorry but i'll have to disagree. i do agree, though, that the graphics aren't
PERFECT, but the way i see it, the improvements that zipper made in this game, and the explosions are awesome, i think the graphics are still great. and plus, the game has checkpoints. i mean come on this has to be the greatest part about playing the campaign now. i can't tell you how many times i've had to start over on socom 2 when i got to nearly the end of the mission.

The way I see it, SOCOM 3 is basically SOCOM 1 and 2 combined. I personally hated SOCOM 1's team A.I. and downright quit during the final campaign and had an incentive to finish the second game because the A.I. was 10X better. As for SOCOM 3, I'm glad checkpoints were given because it seemed that Zipper suddenly decided to place the team A.I. on the very bottom of the priority list.

Definetly NOT intended as a single player extravaganza, no matter how keen it is to have more customizing options for the weapons. The TCA is a good addition, but not being able to make global changes to the team's loadout bites. Picking up weapons & ammuntion from fallen comrades is a nice touch, but the AI still blows; single player is a long babysitting job. I got so tired of having them blow ambushes & stealthy moments that I just went run & gun for a week, and it didn't make any appreciable difference in any mission except for the next to last one.

The way I saw it, the single player was placed on the very bottom of the priority list. The game felt too short compared to the other two. I prefered SOCOM 2 because the A.I. was better. They were able to follow orders better.

The game was good until the last mission when your squad went brain dead and you had to babysit them throughout the entire mission.

Personally I like the checkpoints, coz sometimes your team just happens to run into your LOS and that's bad. The Single Player campaign was a huge disappointment for me, not nearly hard enough, even when playing at Admiral rank. But, as mentioned before, this is not really a single player game.

wasn't that on every mission?

I love Socom 3 but I think that Socom 2 had the best story mode. In my opinion part 2 was a very solid game. They followed orders pretty well and the levels were great. I just hope that Zipper improves the AI for the next game. Sometimes they seem helpless and they respond slowly. And sometimes when I am lying prone and they are following me, one or two of them will stand up and blow our cover.
