Douglas A-1 Skyraider. A World War 2 era propeller driven aircraft that was used for close support of ground troops during the Vietnam War. Dengler's mission was unusual in that they were bombing targets behind enemy lines, a task usually relegated to 'fast movers' i.e. the latest and greatest jet fighter/bombers.
