"Taking a life is never right"

Michael Burnett says to Rambo "I have to report this. I know you think what you did was right, but taking a life is never right."
What a pathetic thing to say after what they just went through, or what do you think?

Whenever I see that scene it always evokes strong emotion in me and I yell at the screen if it wasn't for him Yould be dead ya stupid prick! Yea I hated that guy and line ungrateful

reply

It was retarded. But kind of typical in movies, there is always some sanctimonious prick without basic critical-thinking ability.

Get on the scale! Get off the scale.

reply

I'm surprised Rambo maintained his composure (although he did give him and the others a good talking-to after he killed the pirates).

reply

I found his character fairly unbelievable. Yes there are sanctimonious people like him in the world but they usually set their standards by what they read in the paper from the safety of their armchair. I find it hard to believe a guy who was on like his third or fourth trip into a war torn country could be so naive as to A) Not realise that violence occurs and it's kill or be killed and B) That he thought Rambo gave a crap who he reported anything to!

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

reply

it's bc his wife wanted rambo's D..

reply

LOL, its was pretty obvious she wanted Rambo's D!!!

reply

... well, didn't the film give that missionary his comeuppance when circumstances forced him to fight at the end...? A character gets transformed by his need to fight for his life and the lives of others...?

reply

You are correct. In the end he was not like Jesus turning the other cheek or the nearby Mahatma. He was quite engrossed with the idea of pummeling the soldiers brains right on out.

Douchebag Christians and lame ass liberals who are cowards and think...we all get along. Sorry BLACK JESUS or the ALIENS want us far apart and we believe what we believe.

For the movie that character was too much of a putz to be a Christian helper or was he the right amount? Not sure

His quote isn't even compatible with scripture.

The Bible doesn't say killing is always wrong...it says murder is. Not all killing (like self defense or the defense of others shown in this film) is murder/sinful.

There are plenty of dangerously naive people out there when it comes to the (necessary) use of force to combat atrocity that the movie was rightly cautioning people against.

Then when his religious ideals faced the reality in Myanmar he realized that to save a life he had to bash in a soldiers head with a rock.
