I was crying for Pierrepoint by the end of this movie. I know that the relationship with Tish was exaggerated somewhat for the emotionality of this film, but I still had a tear when he was saying hello old chum to him in the cell before he was lead through to the noose. Damn fine performance from Spall. Mind afterwards I had to put on a Comedy to cheer myself up.

When he said hello to Tish and then Tish smiled and was so relieved that Pierrepoint had acknowledged him..... that really made me cry.

Incredible acting from Spall and Marsen in that scene and almost unbearably moving and then the follow up scene with Spall and Stevenson- again, incredible stuff! what a gem of a film.
The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
