Horrible drag races

Drag races are supposed to demonstrate speed and handling with a car. This game totally defies that aspect. They make sure about 50 cars are on the road between you and the finish line. It's not about how fast you can go, it's about how many cars you can dodge. This is not drag racing. Second of all, for reasons unknown to me, my car will change lanes and hit a car full blast without me touching a button. This has happened more than once. Anybody disappointed at the drag races? NFSU2 had much MUCH better drags.

Agreed...man you hit it right on the nose, drag races were terrible in every way.

Its called autosteer, and its only on drags. Its annoying yes, but it keeps you focused more on the shifting aspect versus trying to keep the car straight. Keep in mind this game is designed with teenagers in mind who havent even gotten their drivers license yet. While driving you wont realy be able to steer the car, rather it lets you change lanes. Took me a while to get used to but with a rumblepad or better yet, usb steering wheel, its a blast.

*Sidenote* - You'll notice the other drivers drive depending on how you drive. Fail a couple drags on purpose and look at your opponent times, it appears that they take their sweet time finishing. When you win the race, again look at the time, they should be much faster this time, and probably less than a secord or two behind you.

well these drags are supposed to be like what you would see on your home town streets(possibly) its not nhra drag racing you know. and your moving with out touching anything is probably due to an aftermarket remote not from the system manufacturer because i had one of those mad cat remotes and on devil may cry and metal gear solid 2 the character would start walking for the same reason you switch lanes

My car's engine fails each and every time! How do I win? what am I doing wrong? I'm trying again, this time I'm going to try rapidly changing my gears. If there's a better (proper) way, please tell me.

i don't know what system you have but i have ps2 and you use r2 to shift up and l2 to shift down and the best way to shift is when an indicator symbol turns green if it turns red you revved too high and if you hit cars alot you just have to get used to that track and try to memorize the sequence the traffic goes. to get used to changing gears try the test drive game with the 69 dodge charger doing a wheelie on the cover because you shift the same way but it's a straight line like nhra and some of the track are more than 1/4 mile

and if you get to where you can make it to the end but still lose try another car instead of fwd models like the kobalt, fiat and vw

Well I have a XBOX 360 and it's much different than that. I know why your car's engine keeps failing. For some stupid reason, the creators of the game made certain cars not able to hold the capacity of a drag race. When you're going extremely fast, you'll see a little red bar getting bigger and bigger. When you see this, simply let go of the gas until it disappears.

I beat the race. *beep* rich brat. what was that little bugger's name? I don't care. anyway, ya, I had to manually change gears. why, i don't know. anyway, i have a *beep* Suh-WEET car now.

I agree with this. I stay out of drag races as long as I can. They look like they are not supposed to show how good you drive, but how much times do you have to repeat the race until you know where all the cars are so you can dodge them. It's a random mess which makes you want to kick your game console.

The drag races are the first ones I enter in. I agree with you all, they are a weird way of doing drags, but they are fun, if you memorize the track. Like the one after you get Porsche - you have to start up like a normal drag, then when a truck turns, you have to slow down to almost full stop, because no matter what line you're in, you will crash into the truck. Annoying, but fun.
