Loved it!

I liked how this movie focused on how The Who created their music, both from each bandmember's standpoint, as well as a whole unit, without over-intellectualizing it! The Who has a special place in the rock music pantheon!

I agree this is a superb documentary, both in terms of the band's music and importance as a major influence in rock, and also in terms of the band members' personal struggle, triumphs and tragedies. I personally could have done without Eddie Vedder, Noel Gallagher and Sting explaining what I already know, but thankfully they were a very small part of the film.

I agree about the inclusion of Sting & Vedder... I would have preferred to have seen contributions from their peers, people like Ray Davies, Keith Richards and maybe even Jimmy Page. People who were involved with the band in their formative years and who influenced them in one way or another. Still, the Who story is almost impossible to cram into 2 hours without doing it an injustice. They should have made it 6 hours long and had everyone involved

"Kunta Kinte... yabba dabba dabba doo"

You're very right interviews with the Who's contemporaries like the Davies brothers, Keef and Jimmy would have helped, but this film was still "Amazing" because of the subject's quality. It seems like people like Sting and Eddie Vedder inevitably appear in films like this because the are so (to put it politely) accessible.

I would have loved to have seen some some perspective from someone like Brian Wilson or Todd Rundgren, though like your said, they had to end it somewhere. At least they didn't include Sheryl Crow.
