Felt like a B movie

Everything from the costumes, to the acting, directing, and uses of CGI felt like almost no money was spent on the movie aside from name actors like Ben Kingsley and Colin Firth. Ben Kingsley is the only one who I felt was trying at all in the movie. The action scenes were also extremely weak as were the villains. I found myself not caring very much about any of the characters. I dont mean to keep piling on but the score to the movie was very basic and sounded like it had been recycled from another movie and remixed. Its not a roman movie, its not a tale of Camelot, its not a romantic adventure, and its not a historical epic. However at times it tries to do all of those things.

This was made by the late great Dino De Laurentiis, one of the most prolific B+ movie producers. He ruled in the 70's, especially in the 80's and somewhat during the 90's. The 2000's, with its CGI, changing moviegoers' tastes and changing nature of the movie business itself, caught him of guard and he never recovered.

Having said all that, it is still amazing that this movie took over 60 mil. to make, yet it looks at least twice as cheap.

Yeah Dino De Laurentiis cranked out a lot of iffy product.

60 mil sounds about right for this thing. All those extras and SFX shots soaked up a lot of money. Still, it makes you wonder if it could have been shot for a cheaper budget.
