Bazooka shot

Just watched this for second time on dvd. Did anyone notice that when 'young Thomas' fires bazooka at tank you can see a big projectile fire out of bazooka and then hit the tank as tank explodes. Freeze-frame this and you will see it clearly.
Did they use a real bazooka? Anyone know?

Doubt they would have used REAL BAZOOKA. But the shot does look very convincing. nothing said on DVD extras..... but why SO MANY deleted scenes??

reply

Yeah, I wish they incorporated the deleted/extended scenes into the movie/DVD. Some of those scenes were cool. I especially enjoyed the one scene when the family is having lunch as normal, even though there's a hole blown out of the side of the house.

IT IS NOT A BAZOOKA

It is a Panzerfaust; a cheap, recoiless anti-tank weapon that was widely produced for the German Army during WW2.

Bazooka's were used by the American military.

It/ll be better tomorrow...

Totally agree, especially about that lunch table scene, it really worked as an allegory to the attitude of German civilians during wartime and I liked the inclusion of Melanie's brother, the SS soldier on home-leave who is clearly disturbed by whatever he has done/seen on the Russian front. This scene was needed for the overall movie. The mind boggles as to why good scenes get cut from films.
