Fascinating subject

Have just seen 'Joy Division' on DVD and it is a fascinating subject. Have seen the Second World War seen-through-the eyes of German characters before, but this movie is different as it specifically deals with two young teenagers caught-up in the whole chaos and barbarity of war - and moreover, the main story is set at the end of the war, as Germany is all but a completely burnt-out carcass that once resemebled a country.

The Rape scenes amongst the ruins and on the battlefield between combat, are by far the most harrowing I have ever witnessed - and these will certainly be the moments of Joy Division that will undoubtedly stay with me for some time. But the way the rest of the story craftily unfolds and the way in which this film seems to draw you-in, very unsuspectedly, until it's too late and the whole world of the chatacter Thomas simply implodes - is nothing short of spectacluar.

The latter-day scenes set in 1960s London left me wanting more - but they worked well in gelling the whole movie together. Something of an Epic.

Given the above you will appreciate the film below. It is a similar subject matter and is equally as shocking. Germany ... Europe ... was no place for a woman at the end of the war!
