I rented this movie, but couldn't get through it. What happens in the end?

he doesn't like who he's become with feeding her and obsessing over her so he goes to her and asks her to kill him, she tells him no that she doesn't want to but ends up biting him and he drops the key at her feet... you think he dies but then it cuts to him knocking on his neighbors (the blonde who asked him to come over for dinner) door and telling her he's hungry and ready to eat, then it shows him and the vamp go in.
then it cuts to that michael bein guy from the terminator sitting in his apt alone in the dark armed with a shotgun telling them to "try it"
it's probably more complex then I just described but you get the idea.
