When Harry Found Tatiana... spoilers

After his long search, Harry finally found Tatiana asleep in her lair. He attempted to kill her, but lost his nerve. Then she awoke and pleaded with him to spare her life.

What I want to know is, why was she so vulnerable and why didn't she just kill him on the spot? That was the only weak point in the movie for me.

She doesn't have her strength during the daylight hours, even if she's in a dark room. That's the assumption I made.

That'll have to make sense.

reply

That's not an assumption. Strickland (Michael Biehn) said that in his internet chat with Harry: during the day she is virtually powerless. That sounds like it doesn't matter where he finds her -- in a dark room, or even in a cave -- she is weakest during the daylight hours.

reply

Probably because Harry reminded her of a former lover of hers. She probably wanted to sire him from the beginning.

Of course. And watching this movie, it's easy to forget, a vampire has two purposes in life (or undeath): drink blood, and make other vampires.

Exactly, of course I think at first she wanted to kill him but she was charmed by Harry and saw potential. Which is why she ended up turning him as opposed to just killing him.

When he used himself as bait and lured her into the cage, she sure as hell looked like she wanted to kill him. Maybe she was just pissed.

In the movies, and especially in the Anne Rice books, Vampires are really picky about who they let "join the club". After all, this is someone you'll be hanging out with for a looooooong time.

That reminds me of what Buffy said in the second season of television series. You're absolutely right, dhmason.

Perhaps she thought he was too cute to kill.

What did Buffy say? I suppose Vampires have their own forms of courtship and romance. They no longer want sex, just blood.

Buffy said essentially that the demons take shop in your body and share all your memories. But when you become a vampire you're clearly not yourself.

That could be an allegory for the human condition in general. Thanks.

No problem you should come to the horror board. We need more earnest posters like yourself.
