When I first saw this movie, I was very underimpressed. I actually forgot about it for about a year afterward, then suddenly I started having flashbacks -- remembering very poignant scenes such as the lab, and the test chamber, and the basement. Ever since I've been on a mission to find it again.
At least for me, Incubus is one of those movies that you hate at first but then grow more and more fond of after missing it for so long. The same thing happened to me with the movie Ruins and the movie Session 9. I hated them at first viewing, then years later I was haunted by their memory and sought them out, even though I couldn't for the life of me remember their names. Now I watch both of them once or even twice a year.
Incubus certainly has its share of flaws and while not nearly the calbre of big budget horror, I think it accomplishes what it sets out to do fairly well and leaves a memorable impression. I've honestly never seen a movie with the same plot and execution even to this day, so it stands well on its own merits, in my opinion. While it's not my all-time favourite horror flick by any means, it's still within my top-30.
