Suspicious about that song

In the film (not the soundtrack CD) "The Tide Is High" sounds exactly like the original 1980 Blondie recording. Except, of course, for the one line where they overbubbed their own singer, Matthew Sweet, along with a chourus of loud humming which may be just put in to drown out the backing so you can't hear Debbie Harry singing the line. Or, since you can hear apparent splices before and after Sweet's line, it may be that that line is their own, including the backing, but the part before and after is Blondie. At any rate, if they made the whole thing themselves it couldn't possibly sound that much like the original just by accident.

So either: (1) They used Blondie's recording uncredited and got away with it (because no one cared, or because they made a deal for it) --

Or: (2) They went to a lot of trouble, and paid a lot of musicians, just to make it sound like the original, because they wanted it to appear as if they had used Blondie and got away with it.
