Alfred Molina

Once again Molina shines. Why the Academy keeps snubbing him is beyond understanding. I think he deserves a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Alfred Molina rules. Did you see the deleted scenes on the DVD? The one where he is at the bar talking about his wife to a stranger is so good. I wish it would have been in the movie, but I'm glad I got to see it on the DVD.

I'll check them out.

He's a great actor. Hollywood has really made the most of his talents too, casting him as a cowboy, a mexican painter, a whacked out drug dealer, a mad scientist with eight mechanical arms, and many more diverse characters. And Molina has hit every one of them out of the park, even when the films haven't shined themselves.

It would be great to see him recognised for this role at the Oscars.

HE's been overlooked way too much. No matter how bad or good his characters are, he places a charm into them. He makes them likeable, even when their dispicable, like in Frida.

You thought that Alfred Molina's portrayal of Diego Rivera in Frida was likeable but you think Diego Rivera, the great Mexican painter as a person is dispicable?

"He makes them likeable, even when their dispicable, like in Frida."

I don't get it....maybe you don't really know anything about Diego Rivera except for what may have been portrayed in the movie. Sure he had a communist slant, a massive lust for life and a huge sexual appetite but I don't think he can be considered "dispicable".

He loved Frida Kahlo and I consider him a personal hero of mine. Molina did a great job making the Rivera role come to life and if you find Rivera "dispicable" because of Molina's portrayal, that only certifies Molina's acting chops.

You are correct I've never read up on Diego Rivera. I just thought the movie made him look bad, and Molina made him still seem likeable. I'm sorry if this confused you. The man is just that damn good of an actor.

p.s. By your signature your either a cynic or a Modest Mouse fan. Either way, good line.

THANK YOU! Finally, a sane person on the IMDB Boards! He has had so many knockout performances that the fact that he does not have an Oscar, Golden Globe, etc., astounds me!
