Racial casting switch

The Female editor that Clifford Irving actually worked with was Asian American Beverly Loo. So why is the character played by Hope Davis a white American ? Odd that Richard Gere who has alot of pull and is a huge supporter of Asians didn't keep the switch casting from happening. Of course maybe Ms.Loo did not want any part of the film. But her real name didn't have to be used either.
