My thoughts

I watched it last night. I think there are definitely parts that are funny, but I was disappointed overall. I kind of agree with the Entertainment Weekly review. Margaret just seems so, if not angry, then upset and run down by the state of the world, that her delivery seems a bit off at points. She sometimes sounds a bit too arrogant about her opinions also. (It's interesting then, that I sort of found her material about Bush to be some of the more laugh inducing.)

Anyway, it's not just some of the delivery thats the problem. I mean "I thought Ronald Reagan was dead already" isn't exactly breaking new ground as a punch line. Some of the material is just not up to par.

I just haven't laughed nearly as much at the last two Cho films as I did at the first two.

I still like Margaret and I think she's intelligent and interesting, but I'm not sure how funny she is anymore.

I guess overall my biggest problem is that it seems like she's pandering to the audience too much lately.

I would agree with you. I am a huge fan of Notorious C.H.O. and the one after that. The humor was fresh and she really hit some of the jokes out of the park. This one was something I never would have expected from her, predictable. She seemed to be using the lowest common denominator of her audience....bush is an idiot and gay men have outlandish tendencies. That said, I absolutely love her and wish there were more outspoken and intelligent women like her. I don't want Al-Gay-da after me :)

I love Margaret..but i agree to some level...
i think she is using too much of her same older material and just rewording or updating it instead of creating a whole new sketch.
I still love her though.

I count myself a fan. I thought her earlier films are very funny, original.

I was indeed surprised to find myself not laughing at this one. I have to agree with many of the criticisms posted here. She reminded me of a run-of-the-mill stand-up comic. It seemed rote. She was getting easy laughs out of her known audience.

Does this have anything to do with being "too political"? I don't know. I by-and-large very much agree with her politics. I agree with her points about gay marriage, etc. I just don't find them very funny here(as she indeed has been in the past).
