Kind of Disappointed

I just got it today and I was so excited to watch it because im leaving to recruit training in 2 months. I went to the website and saw the previews before I put in the order. There were a few things in the previews that werent on the DVD. For Example, at the end of the long preview when a DI is like "does it really have to come down to this.... empty any extra uniform items and get them the hell out of here" that wasnt in the dvd. And also when there are 6 DIs screaming in one recruit's face, or when the recruits were doing a bayonet drill and the DI says "wow, america's future." There are a few other things that I wouldve liked to see in the documentary. Like more of the rifle range, the obstacle course, and some hand to hand combat. For 93 minutes it was kind of short for 3 months of boot camp. Canaan Brumley kind of wasted valuable time by showing some unnecessary things, and couldve used that time to show some things that mattered more.

Other than that, I liked it and I do recommend it. Heck, I like anything that has to do with the Marine Corps. OOUURRRAAAHHHH

i won't recomend it. half the movie was recruits cleaning and running around the squadbay. the movie doesn't even show graduation. it's boring too. go watch full metal jacket.

have you ever been to boot camp? I got this dvd in hopes of reliving my boot camp days. i still havnt seen it but if it shows the recruits running around and cleaning, well thats what ur in for. I am re-enlisting in a year after my surgery is done. And i will have to go allll the way through bootcamp again.

look if you havent been through recruit training quit wasting your time trying to find a book about it...nothing can prepare you for what goes on there..except lots and lots of pt

reply

Exactly it's good they show the cleaning and punishments etc.. All the other documentaries only show PT or the range, recruits think it will be all weapons and PT, then when they have to scrub, detail window frames with a toothbrush, carry a huge weight into the lavatory every time, get the drill absolutely perfect or risk being held back in training, and only have a minute to shower while being yelled at naked by a DI to get the eff out right frigging now! They will have a mental breakdown

I am a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps and this movie will not prepare you for recruit training, your recruiter cant, your parents cant, nobody can. You just have to make it through yourself, however, it can give you a very good idea of what you will be in store for, at least the harsh parts. Very well done I thought.

haha yes u will those were my actual drill instructors at MCRD. Charlie Co 1074 April-July 2002. Man seeing that brought back some memories nothing is better than when Sr D.I. SSgt Ingles says Recruit move before you get murdered. I remember when he first came to our platoon it was up north (Pendleton) man he was just a Sgt then and he swore he had 87 counts of recruit abuse against him and didnt mind adding anymore. haha needless to say we were in the pit all night. But it was all in good times Semper FI!!!
