Symbolism

Symbolism, this film is what is filled with it, was cowboy Bob dead or was Maggie your thoughts. Blue the color of death. Look at all that was blue. I am looking for a ideas, debate, anything as meaningful as the movie underlying theme.

I thought about the same while watching it!
Some won't like this comparison but for example Ingmar Bergman used colours as a way to impact the subconscious of the viewer and to add atmosphere (for example in Cries & Whispers the red symbolized the soul and the feelings). I thought about the blue as a transmutation, not necessarily dead, although that fits too. And to be honest, I asked myself that too: if Cowboy Bob was dead, or if he was some sort of Kharon (the one who carried the souls of those who died across the rivers Styx and Acheron in Greek mythology).

What makes me think that he actually represents Kharon is that when they (Silas and Camille) told him:
"Just get us to the border. Then you can forget you even knew us."
He (Bob) answered: "Sorry, fellow. I'm no good for you. Or anybody."

I also thought that maybe they two (Silas and Camille) both matter in fact died in the accident and that they both were trying to solve here (on Earth) their travel (what they had to do before they could go to the beyond) because at one part she said: "lf l pretended to forget what you said at the truck stop, then maybe we'd both forget."
