I agree! I saw it again today and it looks like a "U" on its side more than a "C".
I saw another episode this weekend and this thing was in Matthew's apartment, arranged in the upright "U" position.
shareI don't know if it was on a message board or in an interview somewhere, but I remember reading that it was supposed to be that way to represent Christine - who always takes YOU (U) and "your" problems and issues (the "you" being everyone else in her life), etc... and turns it around (U into a C, for Christine), makes it about her.

I've always suspected that it was, in fact, originally intended to represent the letter "U," but the set designers set it on it's side, to represent the letter "C," for Christine.
