It looks like this movie will be that prequel we have have been hearing about. It is supposed to be called "The Romulan Wars" originally, but Romulus, My Father does sound much better.

Apparantly this new Star Trek feature will take place after the "Enterprise" era and before Kirks time.

It will focus on a very important phase of the Federation, the beginning of course!

Less than a decade after first contact had been made with the humans from Earth, the two species declared war. The Earth-Romulan War followed, in which Earth and her allies defeated the Romulan Empire in 2160. One year later, Andorians, Humans, Tellarites, and the Vulcans founded the United Federation of Planets. It would take over a century before it became known to the other Federation species that the Romulans were in fact descendants of the Vulcan species.

Apart from having a brain in my own head to do as I see fit, we are in entirely differnt parts of the world, and so dont feel the need to ring each other, but we can quite obviously see for ourselves that you are just oppositional for the sake of it!!

"Romulus" isn't a name invented in any way, shape or form by whoever it is that made up Star Trek. Try and let that sink in. It's an old, old name that, for example, has a place in Roman legend. Hell, there's even a city in Michigan named Romulus.

Nobody has stolen anything, these sort of things just happen.
Now stop bitching and run along.

This thread is my favourite ever.

If you want to know about the new Star Trek movie, JJ Abrams is producing with option to direct and it's rumoured (though unconfirmed) that it'll feature a storyline set prior to the original Star Trek series but still features classic characters.

But does not star Eric Bana and will not be directed by Richard Roxburgh.

No.. the movie industry is not as creative as it used to be, creating a lot of movies out of books or remaking movies previously made (and some of those were even based on books). Yes.. some titles are misleading. How do we deal with such "travesties"? Get over it. For crying out loud, you find out the movie isn't about something you thought it was, then get over it and don't go watch the movie.

I think this post should have been done and over with a looong time ago.

P.S. - I thought the new Pride & Prejudice was great! The accuracy of the book portrayed in the movie is one of the best I've seen of many adaptations, and far better than any version the film industry has offered for this particular book.

Hahahaha, one of the funniest threads I ever read on IMDB! First I wondered whether this was for real. I didn't think anyone could be this stupid. But even the ones who get that this film has nothing whatsoever to do with Star Trek keep on going on that the name Romulus is in the book.

Well, even so, the name Romulus was there BEFORE the book. The name is an ancient name, existing for thousands of years. The story about Remus and Romulus is history. Roman history. So, the Romulus in the book was named after the famous Romulus from history.

Gene Roddenberry (or someone else from the Star Trek founders) used the name Romulus to create the Romulans. HE 'stole' the name from history. So Trekkies, it's the other way round....

Question: did you think the movie 'Troy' was a film about Deanna Troi? Did they steal that title from Star Trek also? You probably think so, because I cannot imagine that you even know what the Iliad is...
