Cinema/DVD release?

I read about The Magician in the Melbourne International Film Festival guide this year, and I liked the premise, and liked it even more when I found it was produced by Nash Edgerton (who made the short film Lucky which screened at Tropfest and the St Kilda Film Fest)
But being under 18, I couldn't see the film, so I was wondering if this film was getting a cinema or DVD release.

The Hopscotch site shows a release date of 29th Sept. I just went to a free preview screening in Sydney, and the film was great-funny and frightening (often at the same time), and Scott Ryan was brilliant. Go see it!

reply

Correct!

Sept 29th, in Victoria at Cinema Europa and the major indies... (Nova, Dendy, Kino etc.) Not sure about other states, but Village is national, so I assume so..

reply

The film is screening nationally and internationally. This, surely, will mean a DVD release... if only a limited one. Given the talent and (avail)ability of the filmmaker there is no excuse for not having a tremendous DVD release, i.e. commentary, behind the scenes, interviews, etc.

reply

The film is one long boring interview as it is.

Your an idiot knuckleman, its a documentary, if u didn't want to see it then why did u go. This is one of the best aussie films i've seen in years! I just hope that films like wolf creek, magician, look both ways and little fish keep on coming and hopefully theres some decent aussie comedies too with consistent scripting.

Can't wait for the DVD.

I make a point of seeing every Australian film that gets a release.

In the whole of the Greater London Area, "The Magician" was showing at three filmhouses. More than that, it had two performances a day (in its first week). This week is its second and last. Catch this gem while you can! I hope they'll be an accessible (sic?) DVD release.

It has been running in Glasgow City Centre Cineworld for the last couple of weeks but I doubt it'll run much longer. I'm very glad that I saw it while I had the chance - excellent film!!!
