Would you have done it? (SPOILERS)

In the end I was dissappointed he didn't kill him. If I knew I was going to die, I would have happily taken another life with me. What about you?
Afterall, we aren't talking about a "happy man" here, but a cocky rich gangster with the world at his hands. Not even human. Using happiness as an excuse out of your execution. *beep* please. You're happy because you've got money and can have multiple wives (AND kill them when you want to.) YOU'RE the selfish one.
I would have NEVER helped you cook dinner. I would have murdered you, and that's that.

You'll get yours one day. Scumbag.

The reason could be that kyoji loves the boss. So far I haven't heard that view presented . When i watched the film for the second time that's the conclusion i reached.

***SPOILERS***

His boss had a wife who didnt love him (was cheating) so he was unhappy. He meets Noi and discovers what real happiness is again.
He sends Noi away on a vacation (keeping her out of trouble he guy says) and has Kyoji kill his wife cause she is unfaithful (and then hires someone to kill Kyoji for sleeping with his wife).
Now that everything is cleaned up he can finally be happy with Noi (& Nid) as he will marry her and create a family (not just a mistress).

Thats why he accepted to die. He realizes he was just causing the world misery; the boss really wasnt a bad guy, he just needed to be punished for his sins.

I think the Asians have a definite sense of honor, you know, such as, if we're talking and I let you get one up on me, or if I don't act when I should, or something, then I take the consequences. Noi and Nid were part of the boss's ups, too. When Noi walked in and Nid ended up in the boss's arms ... we assume she is the boss's child ... that also radically changed things for Kyoji.

I think Kyoji felt rather spent. He had lost in the game of love, too: his long last look at Nid said to me that he wished she had been his. Remember, too, that Kyoji did the wrong thing more so than the boss in a way. Apparently, the boss asked him to kill his wife to spare his life. That was a pretty sorry decision to have made. Kyoji must have known somewhere deep inside that his days were numbered after that.

But do I think the boss deserved to live? Fortunately, there is a reckoning for all of us. I do sense that things might have gone on peaceably for a while for the boss and Noi but I imagine his own sins would have caught up with him somehow. Hopefully, Noi would have gone on to find a real relationship then devoid of sin. But she was apparently very accepting of whatever was going on. By the way, I really thought that dead guard on the floor was the boss at first. It seems Kyoji and Noi and Nid would have made the right family. Maybe she would have been accepting of that, too. What do you think?
