Yeh Mera Dil - er, was that a cane? lol

I was just watching Yeh Mera Dil and I had always thought this was a rather kinky dance number, but if my eyes don't deceive me then it's kinkier than I thought
When Kamini is crawling on the carpet, you can see Don coming towards her (well his legs anyway) and if you look closely it looks like he's holding a cane. It happens fast, so I may be wrong though.

It's around the 1:50 mark. Am I seeing things or do you see it too?

OMG - what is that? And believe me the film is kinky - just kept clean in all the talk so the kiddies are not corrupted. But this is a bad man. I heard SRK say that he argued with Frahan about why Don would sing Main Hoon Don (after his memory came back) and then they decided to film it as though it was in an ecstasy induced haze - hence all the weird angles and perspectives. Also, often you see Don fingering his nose like a sometimes coke user. The film has dark dark characters and the colors go with that aspect.

Thanks SRani
I hadn't heard the background on Main Hoon Don, but it makes a lot of sense.
I guess part of why I enjoyed this film a lot is because of all the dark and kinky stuff that gets implied, but never directly stated in the film.
And I think I understand exactly why Farhan Akhtar wanted SRK for the part rather than one of the stars that would perhaps look better in the action sequences. SRK is always looking for subtexts and things that are not necessarily there in the scene and of course he's got the sense of humour to make the whole thing amusing even while doing all those dark subtexts.

I think people got it at some level that the character was a bad man, but since this was India and people do not get subtlety much, a lot of that stuff was lost. Neither Farhan nor SRK wanted an adult rating so the film was kept ostensibly clean. I really like how dark it is and no one else could have done that so well and made the character so interesting.

I believe he's not holding anything. As the camera moves to right, in the same scene, a bamboo plant (or another bamboo-like plant with green canes) which is placed there becomes visible in the shot.

Could be - because it is a blink and miss shot. But that whole sequence in kind of kinky - when she is dancing in the nightclub with the flashing lights, you see Don with a most intensely lecherous look on his face. This was not a clearcut villainous hero of the 70s. There were no moments of honor or redemption at all.

Yes, you're probably right :) Thanks for pointing that out!

But like SRani I think a cane would have been in character ;)
