new Don vs. old Don (spoilers)

I saw the new version first and then recently saw the old version. I think both are good, but I really like the twist in the new one. In my opinion, I thought Srk's 'Don' character was better while A. Bachchan's Vijay character was better. Maybe because I saw the new one first, I didn't really find Amithab's 'Don' too scary or evil. He's played so many loveable guy roles it's hard to see him as a bad guy. Srk's Vijay on the other hand was kind of dorky and I was so glad when the twist came. I don't think I would have liked the new one otherwise. Any thoughts?

Yep your right. Srk as Don is better because he is more evil and scary e.g. the clothes he wears for one is a gangster look and his enemies get a brutal killing. Amitabhs vijay character was more innocent and acted like a proper person in his situation being poor and having adopted 2 kids. But on the other hand we cannot say srk's vijay character was bad because it was Don all along haha. Vijay only came in the beginning and to be killed off in he hospital.

The point which I stress so deeply is that Shahrukhs Vijay was much more beliveable why?

Because you can and could belive that this guy with a bit of tweaks could be Don. Where as Big B's Vijay was so unique and comical that it gave one a head ache to say that this Vijay could be a potential Don.

70's era was different meaning that needed to enlighten every difference in character to really get the audiences involved.

Now cinema has moved on and people are being able to relate to characters.

Arjun was more stylish, amitabh walk, the cigar smoking, the card playing, was bloody naturally cool, and how is this don better, it is copied, plus only advantage it has is tech, nothing else, every bit is a copy.

Arjun with the greasy hair and cringe inducing acting was more stylish? Well there is no accounting for taste is there?

Big B was a caricature with his polka dots and bow ties and cigar smoking. BTW how did the queenly Vijay of the ghunghroo and surma style become this suave bow tied card playing Don? The old Don did not need tech, it needed someone with half a brain to think through the story. In the new Don the director used all his brain and came up tops! Amitabh could always walk and talk cool, problem was in the acting, he never could do that. This is why when Satyajit Ray needed a narrator with a good voice he chose Amitabh, when he needed men who could act well he chose Sayeed Jaffrey, Amjad Khan and Sanjeev Kumar for Shatranj ke Khiladi!!

But if one can mistake height, voice and walk for acting then it is fair to call big B and Arjun Rampal good actors!!

How can anyone seriously claim Arjun's acting in Don was better than Shahrukh's?

Chof, just out of curiosity, how many times did you see this new Don? Did you ever try to look at the story as a different story than the Don you saw earlier? Because although you can only see the part that it's a copy, the twist in the end actually makes it a very different film. If you would give it an honest chance, you might like the film. If you are unable to like it, then please move on...

Yaa - move on to watching more Arjun films - I could recommend some but I haven't watched any.

Amitabh Bachans BOW TIE and Shahrukh Khans Acting
bth DON was good i prefer the new on because i am a great fan of SHAHRUKH KHAN and FARHAN AKTHAR, the old did not have a twist so then it was not as exciting as the new and old one stayed within India wereas the new one went out of india, Pran did a good role as Jasjit even though Arjun Rampal was good and overall they both were coz if we was to compare AB and SRK then it would take us a life time coz they are both good

old DON the best.. new one could have been even better if it was a sequel of old don and not a remake...

I have to disagree with you on this one. This remake was excellent. The twist in the ending aded a whole new dimension in to the movie. It is quiet an improvement in contrast to the original. The movie had deeper character development.
Saying the original don is better would be like saying the sequal to 'gone in 60 seconds' is better than the original.
