Who to blame/How to solve..

Most people want to blame president Bush because "he's not doing anything about this problem." You CANNOT blame just one person. This is something that one person can't stop, the whole government can't stop, not even the whole world can't stop...unfortunately. This problems lies within something that is so complicated, that as a normal person we can't even start to comprehend the ways or the steps to stop this.

Prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world--and that is sad. It's been around since the beginning of time, and it will still be here at the end.

I wish there was a way to stop this. I wish there was a way to capture all of these mafia-type families that do this. But, sad to say, there's not. I wish that wasn't the case.

When they go over to the second and third world nations, they traffickers tell them about a better life they can have-one that's full of fame of fortune.

The problem is from the runners and who pays for sex....
The solution is nowhere because of the vast complexities...

If you want to do something about it, launch a campaign within your own community, get people involved with this issue. If we all did that, we would be better off. (you can't blame someone else, but the change would start with you)

I honestly believe that it is partly the media's fault, American parents fault, and just the mental diseases all combined.
The reason I believe the media is at fault is because of the way they publicize young girls dressing so provocatively. The Maury show also recently had a show about prostitution that made it seem like an ideal job!

I believe the parents are at fault is because they ARE letting their children dress this way. This might be because I live in the south, but if I had went out in a tube top and a skirt short enough to be underwear, I would've had my butt spanked and would've been grounded!

I also believe that a lot of people HAVE to have something wrong in the head to want to sleep with a child.
Who does that?
There has been studies that say that there is something different in their brains and they can rehabilitate them.
Honestly, I'd rather have them hung. But that's just me.

Also, I went to a conference on Human Trafficking at Kennesaw University in Georgia, and it AMAZES me how people are effected by this!! There is a campain called the Not For Sale Campain and one called EC-PAT that are helping being this problem to an end. So check them out!

gday!

just read your blog on imdb.com. i 100% concur with what you wrote - and i feel compelled to do something about this horror within our world...
and as you wrote ''...if you want to do something about it, launch a campaign whtini your community; get ppl involved...''

but, how do we - as individuals; do that ? WHO do we contact ? any particular government agencies?

i want to do something to help - but, i'm unsure as what that is.

any ideas?

I don't think that any one person is responsible for a global problem. A global problem requires a global answer and this is where it's getting tricky. Some people are slower than others to prioritize this issue.

I wouldn't know how to start a campaign either. I'd like to get in contact with someone who has experience doing that. I'll visit a few anti-trafficking websites 'n see what I can do.

I think a huge problem in our country is that prostitution is illegal. If it was regulated by the government, these people could just open brothels with LICENSED prostitutes, and if a brothel was government-sanctioned, you would know for a fact that none of the workers were coerced or have diseases or are underage. Then the police could focus on these kidnappings and child exploitation.

Elysium22- Human trafficking exists because traffickers do not want to pay prostitutes and instead FORCE people into SEX SLAVERY. Legalizing prostitution will not solve the issue of human trafficking because traffickers do not seek out prostitutes, they seek to inslave people.

Trafficking and Slavery aren't a war that can be won, only fought.

Part of the problem are countries with bribed / apathetic / inadequate police forces. Criminals walk all over their citizenry and even tourists, and there's nothing they can do. They may even be the ones doing it.

Slavery is as old as human history. Even today, there is "legalized" slavery just as in Biblical times. In the olden days, when you wronged someone, it was not only legal, but necessary that you paid your victim back with some form of servitude. Today, literal bondage is illegal and frowned upon by society in general, but in actuality, legalized slavery still exists.

When convicted of a crime, a person is sent to prison. Unless you're in a supermax facility, you're doing menial tasks that you don't get paid for; you're "repaying you debt to society." In essence, you're a public slave to pay for a crime you committed.

Then, there's the underground slavery, the literal forced bondage that is deemed illegal by our governments and our peoples (in most cases). This is where random individuals are targetted and disappear shortly thereafter, only to be bought and sold and traded over and over again to be used and treated like nothing more than commodities. And it's not just girls and women who are sold off. Young boys and young men are also traded.

If you want to absolutely get rid of ALL forms of slavery, it is essential to destroy all greed in the world, to eradicate any and all traces of the ego and to force all humans to live for one another rather than just for self-interest. Therein lies the problem. You'd have to destroy free will itself.

To make it simple, it would take WWIII to remove all traces of human slavery from existence.

I never knew of this TV movie, as one has wrote it is a cover of how real this is. Problems, not Prostitution or slavery, of this is kidnaping that most times end with death; think they will let them go after a few years of knowing their faces, names, places and ways the system works, I don't. The demand for what they are kidnapped for turns to prostitution, slavery, and money...lots of money. Like drugs being a world problem with plenty of money that the governments can't spend or the man power to stop even a fraction of what happens. See one is the rich likes to do things that others can't most times without problems of getting caught. Only a stronge force with man power, ok to kill first take prisoners later and many billions of money can this close to be stopped. Look at the drug trade that out presidents and government officials try to stop with a bit of success. Just when one ring is caught three more is starting up to take their place. This is many billions profit after all the cost and ones that can't be trusted is gone with others willing to do for the price of needing a better living. Only way to see this stopping is every country becoming the same as money not to be used any more. Take away the money and also the power then the demand will decline and no need for ones that help need money for a better living. This will not be any time soon but I do hope it can be by 2100.
