It was released theatrically in Japan January 28, but it had been shown on several festivals throughout 2005. Not sure when the DVD will come out.
shareI think I will really like this film. I thought the way the Albert Ayler piece was fitted into "Eureka" was so tight, I almost cried, meaning wow--the story, the mood, the visual, the character, and the anticipated action were so exquisitely matched to the shape of that piece of music that a whole extra form of interior energy was created. And the use of "Caroline, No" in "Desert Moon" was, needless to say, extremely powerful. So this movie seems sort of natural for Aoyama and friends.
Please, please let this new one be released on dvd...and maybe even a screening or two in Los Angeles?
Dvd has just been released in Japan, in 2 versions (single and double discs), with English subtitles on film (no detail on extras).
As usual, very expensive from Japan: minimum price is $45 for the single disc edition.
