The Ending made me angry possible spoilers****

Ok the end where Verek becomes human again and they all live on as a happy little family curing people it made me so angry. The movie was tolerable and I loved Jason Behr in it, but the end just made me so angry it ruined the rest of the movie for me. Anyone else agree?

I just thought I would have rather seen the typical end good over evil versus the hey you tried to kill everyone I know but that's ok because you're my dad and we are going to become the best family ever. It just made me cringe

The hotness lived! Thus, it's all A-okay in my book *shallow*

No... I do not agree, this movie was intolerable from the get-go and only worsened by the time the incredibly lame ending rolled around. Sorry folks, a little bit of Jason Behr flesh just wasn't enough to not make me wanna hurl my large soda at the screen and with movie concession prices being what they are these days, that is saying a lot!

reply

If you think about it tho. Nobody new what would happen on the boys 13th birthday. Once Varek bit his son he was cured because like the ending shows...The boys blood is a cure. Nobody new. Amazing storyline if you ask me.

Did we watch the same movie?!!!!!!!

Let me guess you also liked Metro, Istar, Phat Girlz and Kazaam to name a few. These movies must have had you guessing left and right with what was next.

reply

It helped that I actually watched it on a pirated DVD that costs probably 1/10 of what cinema tickets are priced.

In my book, the uncle was the hottie. The bad guy was ok looking.

As long as Jason's character gets to live, I am happy

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have a beam of light to catch"

reply

No. It was awful. Jonas, the man who had actually raised Tim, gets to be shot to death, while Varek, the absentee father who happens to be a mas murderer who is trying desperately to kill his only son, gets to live to be with said son and wife. What? When does this happen, ever? If I had been Rachael, I would have shot his ass while he was lying on the ground after that fall. All this ending does is leave it open for an equally bad sequel. Now, I love James Rodday who is credited for being one of the writers on this project (he also plays Shawn on the show Psych), but I really hope that he didn't have a lot to do with writing it. That would be very unfortunate.

reply

Varek being 'cured' wasn't the problem with the ending IMO. The problem with the ending was the fact that Rachel and Timothy didn't seem to acknowledge it. That motel scene was played for humor and threw everything off. I mean, this is an Alpha werewolf who ruined his family's lives, causing the deaths of them all, who killed his own mother, who chose not to go back to his wife, and for them to not even acknowledge all that he'd done in the end, or for Caleb to feel some sort of guilt for what he'd done was just stupid.

reply

I so agree with you Majin ! I like that Varek was cured but it was like the whole movie was leading up to this big moment and then nothing.

It seemed stupid just be like ok I'm cured now were at the hotel together and everythings fine.

I wish they would've shown more of the flash backs too. I think seeing more of Caleb before this happened would've helped to make a bigger impact when he was cured. I was expecting more at that moment.

I do think Jason did a great job concidering they hardly gave him anything to say. He got across all these emotions with just his eyes and expressions.
I thought the boy did a great job too.

Question: Was nanna Calebs mother?

reply

After watching this film,I have to say I kind of liked it. 6 /10
I thought the ending was a little lame too BUT it made sense. (Perhaps they edited out some of the explanation.) Since the boy's blood was the cure and Varek bit him, He was cured with a super dose of whatever was in the blood Thus, his seeming disorientation immediately afterwards. Also note that at the end when they were filling the bullets with the blood, It was just one drop so it must be super powerful. That was just my impression but they didn't talk about it.
The hotel scene was only to set up a part 2. Probably in production by 2008.
As for his past transgressions, He may not have remembered what he did or simply since he was cured, he was no longer a danger. Remember ,he even let some people(werewolves) live while he was evil.
He didn't really leave his son. He was taken by whoever attacked them. HAD he seem him, he would have killed him anyway.
As for killing his mom, She was shooting at him too. Protecting the boy was far more important than her own son obviously. It was her mission.
I look forward to the straight to video part 2.

BTW,Has J Behr always looked like a WWE wrestler!

reply

I agree with you totally about how Jason can say so much with just his eyes. It blows me away. I like happy endings so as corny as it was I was glad he was back to Caleb in the end. I agree they could have explained it more.

Yes Nanna was his mom..and he shot her...but in his defense she was gonna kill him firs. LOL

reply

i mean, did anyone else acknowledge the ridiculous gash on the side of the kids neck at the end? i watched in disbelief as that was never dealt with in anyway. Caleb munches on his tiny sons neck- leaving an enormous bloody wound, and the stupid kid didnt flinch or whince once, nevermind fall over in pain! if i had more sensitive sensibilities i would have been offended by this movie.

I actually liked the ending because it was nice seeing them all together again helping people who wanted to be cured. As far as the things Varek did when he was under the influence lets say of the bloodlust there's no way to know if they actually talk about it later or to know if Caleb feels guilt and grief for the things he did. I always figured that was something they talked about over time. I mean just cause they didn't walk into the hotel talking about all the people he killed and his feelings doesn't mean that it wasn't at some point discussed.

reply

I kind of liked it..but the ending just totally confused me. Like I don't get it. I thought when the boy lives that means all the skin walkers are cured but they sitll are killing and curing skin walkers. It just totally confused me.

you'll be my king and I'll be your castle. No you'll be my queen and I'll be you moat

reply

No, not all Skinwalkers are cured. Timothy has the ability to cure Skinwalkers but it's not automatic, they have to be injected with his blood, or ingest it or have it put into their system some other way (The bullets being loaded with his blood).

reply

the bullets thing was so dam stupid yeah im gona shoot sombody with super blood bullets and theyl be cured... dead, but cured. anyway whatever healing traits the blood has wouldnt survive the journey from gun to flesh it would burn up, lame movie, cheap laugh with friends at best.............. btw this movie has so little to do with actual skinwalkers im making a movie called bigfoot its also about werewolves

reply

That's what the movie led us to believe before the ending.

reply

i was waiting for the kid to transform.
then at the very end show him as an adult half breed kicking ass for a second. then roll credits.

reply

Totaly agree i was hoping for a big showdown between father and son but instead all we got was an anti-clamatic ending that sucked.

reply

Its the whole theme of "you tasted blood, now your over the top evil" that bothered me that much. I mean they could had bad and good wherewolves all the way whitout that. Ok they couldn't had use the father of the boy and some things but that would have make it less stupid. Its the part where for exemple Sarah's character become evil that annoy me, only because she drank blood now even in human she kill her lover and want to kill her dad and her cousin. At the very limit they could have do a thing where they control has a wolf when "good" but if they would happen to taste blood for survival or else they could not control themselves when in wolf again. But the whole "now i hunted, now im an evil all the way" really annoyed me.

reply

It was an okay movie but like many others here
I was expecting more from the ending

"...Verek becomes human again and they all live on as a happy little family curing people it made me so angry..."
I disagree with this being a problem. The whole point to this movie was that the skinwalkers that drank blood didn't want this thirteen year old boy to live past his birthday; since he would bring an end to 'the curse'. They all worked and died to kill this boy because they didn't want the curse to end. The reason they didn't want the curse to end is because it WOULD CURE THEM. This boy's blood was the ONLY thing in the story that would stop the curse or cure their lives of being werewolves. Without the curse, no more bloodlust.

All in all, I thought this movie was ok. Could have been better, but I saw no problem with Verek becoming 'normal' since that's what he feared the most. So, I say a sequel is in order to show the boy older and still curing people; however his father might have some latent bloodlust; even though he's no longer a werewolf. And he could allow himself to get bitten again... Who knows... He might be acting 'normal' in order to later have the chance to stop the boy and become a SKINWALKER again.

Think of it this way: Why would the Varek gang try so hard to stop the boy from making it alive to midnight if they didn't have to worry about a cure to the curse?

I just don't understand why Jonas had to die. He was the good guy and Verek was the bad one...then at the end the good guy died and the bad guy was the hero. That just sucked!!

reply

You're right, stupid ending. Varek no longer hungered for blood because he was human again. So everyone he murdered and killed as a werewolf was forgiven, he suddenly becomes #1 Father and #1 Husband. All is forgiven.

Varek even killed his own brother, who was protecting Varek's son and wife.
BAD BAD ending.

reply

I dont think the ending was so bad I actually kind of liked it. I figured Varek always loved Rachel and that was part of the reason he never went back because he was too afraid that he'd hurt her. A lot of the scenes showed that he still cared about his family. I think the whole Varek biting his sons neck was because Varek wanted to be cured after everything that happened and he knew that doing so was the way. jayhawki, Varek didnt kill his brother. If you remember Jonas told Rachel that if he drank blood and lost control for her to shoot him and thats exactly what she did. Jonas dying was probably the one thing I didnt like about this movie, besides some of the other good ones dying.

reply

LiveLaughLove1, I agree with the original poster, I think it was horrible that it seemed like Jonas (Elias Koteas) died (even if it's because he fed for the 1st time on his brother Varek trying to protect his nephew & Rachel, and she promised she'd shoot him, and she did.)

But I have to say, it looked like Varek's Mom died the 1st time at the gas station when Jonas & Gang hauled 6 and got the kid out of dodge, and then it just turned out, she was badly injured, and she popped back up again, and that Varek had to off her.

I think they'd make up for ending the 1st movie so badly, by letting Varek, Rachel & thier Son head off for happy-ville, if they did a direct to DVD sequel. And it picked up a just a few days shy of a month later. If you remember Rachel got turned by Jonas, but she had no scars on her face anymore.

And Jonas was Alpha of the 'evil' pack, that was after the 3 of them, and that he got to kill Varek for all the evil things he'd done, and he went after Rachel and the boy himself because they're 'his' family.

I suppose I mostly want Jonas to come back because I've always thought E.K. did a great job acting, and I think he's handsome, but I think it's crap, Rachel being such an aweful Mom that she'd let the guy that started munching on her son like he was a snackie cake start hanging out with them, as if the boys blood was miracle serum.

You noticed the legend said it was an answer to the curse (the boys blood), it never said it kept them from changing every month into werewolves, it just said it got rid of the bloodlust for human flesh & blood.

Oh and for the person that said Varek was the Alpha of the pack he wasn't, that woman in the very beginning who assigned everyone thier directions, 'she' was the alpha. Varek only seemed to be the Lt. of his gang of 4 were's.

Quite honestly, that came entirely out of left field. I guess it was the director's way of paying homage to the nuclear family. It's worth preserving and to their credit something very different. Besides...Jason Behr, it would have sucked seing something so beautiful as him wasted...which reminds me...why did gorgeous Shawn Roberts have to kick it at the end. Shame on them!

Well you cant really hold him responsible for the people he killed when the bloodlust got ahold of him . The movie showed with jonas daughter how psycho it made them.

I kind of see it along the same lines as the Buffy and Angel thing. Sure hes crazy evil without a soul but, once he gets his soul hes a completely different person.
