Exploring the possibilities of the piano (spoilers)

"I am certain that most composers today would consider today's music to be rich, not to say confusing, in its enormous diversity of styles, technical procedures, and systems of esthetics." --George Crumb

In the end when Jenny started tapping the strings, I immediately thought of George Crumb, although I have never played his work, but to my knowledge he likes to explore all the possibilities of an instrument. (google and youtube, I'm sure whoever's reading this will find his work interesting)

There are no rules to music. The strings can be tapped, plucked, flicked, scratched or manipulated in any way to make sound. And that is what made the film for me. I hope in the future more musicians will explore their instruments, hopefully this will lead to a revolution, and a new era in music will dawn.

PS. That piece must be a b*tch to practice, I wonder if they mark the strings or something to make it easier to locate.

I thought that the closing piece was fabulous, beautiful and experimental.
I wonder how frequently classical and neo-classical musicians venture out and try new techniques such as what is shown in the film.
