Paltry FX Budget

I see the recession has hit criss angel as well. That 90s era cgi he used for the levitating sphere on tonights episode was just awful.

I just saw the "Grand Canyon" so called jump. It was the lamest trick, with the lamest FX EVER. The dude has jumped the shark, not the canyon.
He doesn't even bother to try anymore.

So fake looking. At least make it look real and the one angle they showed us ever time they replayed the jump didnt help either

Watched it on HD and the fire looked so fake.

The "double date" trick was lame too. I'm not a magician and I could easily figure it out. It's so simple. The two girls were hiding behind a large rock in the background, and they ran behind the curtain while Criss was trying to distract us. Watch as the camera moves to the right a little while the curtain is up. There is a short concrete wall with traffic cones at the end of it. As our point of view changes slightly, Criss just crouched down and ran behind that wall and hopped into a waiting car that was sitting behind the cameraman.

I agree, the show has jumped the shark.

He also used cheesy cgi for the Grand Canyon jump...looked really stupid. Even when they showed where the T Rex supposedly landed at the bottom of the canyon and you could tell the smoke was fake.

There is always too much month and not enough money.

This is the reason he's a joke now.... worst tricks, and used editing and CGI....SO LAME. He used to do trick that were at least real tricks.... but then added fake crap to them with editing, and since then, that was the end of his credibility.

He's ALWAYS used camera tricks and FX, coupled with fake audiences. He just doesn't care anymore whether anyone knows it, he's been paid.

Well, I've always known about fake audeinces, but now they are getting lame because they can't even act surprised now.... just a bunch of bad actors it seems. But, it's amusing in a cheesy bad way I guess.... how else does the TV show stay on the air?

He probably has a contract, he gets paid no matter what.

As for the audience, how lame an excuse not to have anyone present than it's "too dangerous"...PLEASE, what an insult to the TV audiences intelligence. They were at the mouth of a Canyon, surely there was ONE spot where his shill audience could pretend to gawk in wonderment at his "illusion." In the Canyon jump he was so cheap he didn't even spring for the usual suspects as an audience, they ask some member of the "crew" who graduated from the Pia Zadora school of acting to voice his amazement at what he had just "seen."

The more I think about it, the more I think he's on some megalomaniacal high where he actually thinks that no matter what or how he does anything, it will bewilder and awe his fans. His joyousness after the jump took more effort than his entire "jump."

He's always been a hack, but he used to be a good hack.
