But, under whatever name, it is a dull, by the numbers, found footage film. This one claims to be about a group making a documentary in Italy, attempting to follow in the footsteps of H.P. Lovecraft, who visited a strange rural area of Italy in 1926 and left a journal of his trip.

You have to buy the Lovecraft could afford to travel abroad, but, why not... I could imagine all kinds of things. The problem here is that the people who made this film imagined little of interest beyond taciturn Italians hiding secret tunnels, unseen cults and occasionally describing monsters from the river. Not much is seen and nothing coherent is even implied beyond the notion that all of the empty houses and fragmentary stories inspired "The Shadow over Innsmouth" and "The Call of Cthulhu". Naturally, it all ends abruptly when "something" happens to the film makers - That cannot constitute a spoiler.
