Finale killed it...

My wife and I just found this show a while back on Netflix.

I'm a fortyish married man with a twenty-four year old step-son and a twenty year old step-daughter. My step-son is a real problem child; drugs, crime, the whole works. A lot of what happened in the show hit really close to home, especially the dynamic about the new guy coming into a family. (Although, without the television wackiness of course.) My wife and I also lost a baby, so my wife actually had to stop watching for a few days after that happened.

Then when the finale had Wayne hook up with Pascale it drove me over the edge. Just the thought of that kind of thing happening makes me sick. The betrayal and overall heartlessness of it all. And how the show tried to make it OK because love was involved?

She was only gone for six months! And if this is the woman he apparently loved so much, was that long enough to move on to a girl that was, for all intents and purposes, his step-daughter? I would have to say that he was never really in love at all if that's the case. Losing a baby is traumatic, believe me I know, but it's no reason to toss aside your woman for her fracking daughter. That's just cruel beyond measure. It destroyed what was one of my favorite shows for me.

I agree. I couldn't believe they turned two decent characters into backstabbing a-holes. What was the point in that? As if they tried to make the finale not perfectly happy. But it was crap. Also, Van's and Elena's (who sounded more lie Skandinavian than Russian) wedding was a joke as we all know how long it's gonna last what with him constantly getting it off with random chicks. Shame they didn't bring Wolfgang back. He was the head of the family until the actor decided to cut and run to America to make more money. All in all, the finale was alright but not that great. Season six was hit and miss anyway. So it's good it finally ended.
