Recommendations for other Kiwi/Aussie shows?

If I like this show, Packed to the Rafters, Love My Way and Underbelly what other Kiwi or Aussie shows would you recommend?

I'm in the UK where we get hardly any tv imports that aren't from the US - annoying!!

I'm in the US...

However, I recommend the family adventure "Kaitangata Twitch" and the complex mystery "This Is Not My Life" when they air in NZ later this year. Both are 13-part series. KT is half-hours and TINML is hour-long.

"Go Girls" is from the same people as "Outrageous Fortune."
Are you familiar with the OF official site and the South Pacific Pictures site?

The US is trying another remake of OF called "Scoundrels." You might get to see that sometime. :)

Not TV shows but check out Scarfies and Savage Honeymoon.

...You might like Stingers, although it has more of standard "TV" feel than the shows you mentioned, which seem pretty cinematic. Like comparing an NBC show to an HBO show.

New Zealand:

Seven Periods with Mr. Gormsby - NZ comedy - 2 seasons available on DVD
Rude Awakenings - Dramedy 1 season on DVD

The Cult - received mixed reviews and wasn't renewed but about to come out on DVD.

This is Not My Life - is airing now and getting brilliant reviews. Not on DVD yet.

New show - Harry (with Sam Neil)- excellent!!

Are you aware of Westside?

reply

I am but it is not currently available in the states. I am watching Harry "HARRY is a single story, six-part crime drama series set in Auckland which follows the intense psychological journey of Detective Harry Anglesea" on Acorn TV (Roku) right now and it is really good! I can't wait until either Netflix or Hulu has Westside available. Unfortunately Hulu only has season 1 of Outrageous Fortune. The entire show (all seasons) used to be on Netflix but is no longer available. I LOVED that show!!!! Another really good show (on Netflix)is an Australian show "Wentworth" - you can check it out on IMDB to see the cast which includes "Gary" (Aaron Jeffery) from outrageous fortune. I am hooked on Aussie and New Zealand TV shows!!!
