Recently started playing again.

It's strange seeing how much game mechanics have changed in 7 years.
I absolutely loved this game when it was first released and thought it was the greatest shooter at the time.

Playing it again recently and it's lost a lot of its charm and seems very dated.
The controls are not as smooth as I recalled, the levels are too linear, the cover system is terrible, the graphics look really dated, etc.
However at its heart, it's still a good fun shooter and still worth a play.

But I'm surprised no sequels or other games were made, especially seeing as this sold really well and received plenty of critical praise at the time.
I'd love to see what they could do with this concept today. I suppose the closest we have is Max Payne 3.

Still it would have been great to have played as Tequila a few more times over the years and seeing how far they could have pushed this concept a little more with other games.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

I'll never understand why games being linear is suddenly a negative thing these days. You never ever hear that being said about any of the classic Mario, Sonic or the Metal Gear Solid games, but lately unless a game has 20 different level routes and 35 endings it's considered a bad thing.

Only dream I ever have is it the surface of the Sun. Every time I shut my eyes it's always the same.

Which is why I said "too linear", the key word there is "too".
The reason being that the game itself offers a little deviation and that is clearly what the developers had in mind, however it never goes anywhere with it meaning adding the alternate routes is asinine.

Apples and oranges.

That's odd. Well, I 1st played it when it was released. Then years later, I couldn't get into it. Now I played it again about half a year ago and loved it even more than the 1st time. Finished it quick and will be doing so again. It's still among the greatest, because too many developers keep forgetting to channel a bit of John Woo when making 3rd-person shooters.

Also, they were working on a sequel of some kind. Called Gun Runners, where Tequila would have teamed up with Vin Diesel. You can even find some footage of it.
