Contender for worst titled film

The name speaks for itself

reply

heard that! who even wanted a part 2 anyway??

reply

Who wanted part 2? I didn't. But I want anything with Ted Raimi and Vanessa Angel.

reply

i can sympathize with that.

reply

Hahaha. I just got it. Why didnt they just call this movie Raptor Planet.

reply

So that they can draw people in with the title, since the first one got really good ratings.

reply

how is it an island and a planet

reply

See "This Island Earth" for details. :p

reply

how about, it's a movie made for Sci-Fi Channel. who cares?!

reply

We already know in advance, months before it even airs. 2-4 million people will watch it and love it, and 10-12 message boards will each have 2-3 people (who, with the nature of "handles," could easily be the same person or persons) who say it's the worst thing they've ever seen, and why does Sci-Fi air such crap? When you can predict what they'll complain about in advance, their "opinions" sort of lose a good amount of validity. It's a pretty safe bet that it will be in the top ten for the network for the week. Possibly number one, unless there's a season premiere of BSG or something like that.

Amazingly, we've yet to see the headlines proclaiming "Internet Fan's Negative 'Opinion' Gets Him Writing/Directing Gig at Sci-Fi!"

reply

yup, that's what we all dream of - working for Sci-Fi!!

reply

Okay I'm not even sure I want to see this one, I was so happy when I found out sci-fi made a Raptor Island and my dad and I started watching it and we couldn't even go twenty-thirty minutes in it cause it was so bad. Who knows maybe they learned from their mistakes in the first one.

reply

The real title of this movie is "Planet Raptor" not "Raptor Island 2: Raptor Planet".

reply

Hi. I'm the screenwriter. I can confirm that this is now titled PLANET RAPTOR and has no connection to the first film.
I saw a completed trailer last week and it looks very good, lots of intense action, great performances from Steve Bauer, Ted Raimi, Peter Jason, Musetta Vander, etc.
I hope sci fi fans will enjoy it... its really a sci-fi western in some cases... RIO BRAVO or THE ALAMO with dinosaurs.

Thanks for the update. Do you have any idea as to when this will be airing on the Sci-Fi channel?

reply

I don't know about the Sci Fi Channel, though assume it will be on. The imdb mentions something about December... which sounds about right.

reply

Musetta Vander in a sci-fi western?? i've never heard THAT one before!!

I hope you all had lots of fun making this thing.

Frankly speaking, people complain about these movies all the time, calling each "the worst film ever made". Yet the only difference of these creature features and the ones made with big money in Hollywood is the money itself. So it doesn't really matter as official Hollywood productions are just about the same, only far more costly. A movie being good is all about the structure and editing, not just the effects. No pun here, but those puppet shots unavoidably remind me of the Roger Corman Carnosaur films. Can't say that I complain as the most lousy puppet effects I've ever seen for dinosaurs were in Future War and that was just a flat experience that I could laugh at while viewing Mystery Science Theater 3000. I'm sure you've given a nicely decent donation to people looking for a rental DVD to relax upon after a hard day's work. If I had written this I'd have made it much more intense than just puppets tearing into actors in predictable angles. Don't get me wrong, this is just my two cents and nothing more.

Why is there a scene with a T-Rex type of dino munching on a marine and it is never seen again? Also, after being shown completely in the dino's mouth, the marine only has a leg wound.

reply

SciFi Channel movies are so painfully, offensively, unjustifiably bad... you can't even laugh at them. How... why? Why do they keep being made? Is there really such evil in the world?
