hey i seen a movie or series similar to this that is really really good and really really really old well over 15 years old i'm pretty sure

its about this guy, he finds out his wife was murdered, he had this pizza kid arrested, one day while cleaning his house he finds a red cloth or something, when he touches it, it burns his hands but he gets a flash back on what really happened on the night of the murder, anyone know the movie/series that was from ?
