I rented this movie from Netflix. All I have to say is wow this movie was so stupid. The old man was funny though. He was the only thing that was funny about this movie. The Mechanic guy was hilarious too. The movie was just so bad though it wasn’t even funny. They even got a hobo to do the intro, that had me laughing.
It really pisses me off to see that IMDB lets any cinematically ignorant moron leave comments. This person "gnubler" is unfamiliar with the genre and does not understand this type of exploitation humor. This is an obvious homage to Russ Meyer and in that respect kicks ass. The actresses are far from "chubby." Ok, Mary Carey was slightly chunky. But now look at her, she's freaking anorexic looking. The actresses are voluptious and unique. Far better than most of the scrawny, stick figured and flat chested broads that grace the big screen today. The chick who plays the nurse (her name slips my mind at the moment) is a pretty good actress and not to mention smoking hot! They are the ideal depiction of sex and beauty, especially when considering the era the film is inspired by.
I would say that a few of the actors were lacking in ability, but the main characters, with the exception of porn star Mary Carey (The old man, the nurse, the mechanic) made the film. To sum it up, I disagree with the PP. The plot is fun and the girls are definitely not bad to look at.
It really shouldn't succeed or fail based on anything peripheral to the actual film, but if you had any idea who Russ Meyer was you'd change your tune. Unless you just happen to naturally have those particular tastes, a well rounded familiarity with his stuff is almost essential to not only enjoying this movie on those levels but to realizing where it's coming from and what it's trying to achieve. So much of it is lovingly derived from RM's body of work and style, with a little Frank Henenlotter thrown in for good measure - with that in mind the movie is elevated to a completely different plane. People who don't like it need to lighten up a little - it's great as an ode to all things Meyer but a blast as a piece of airy schlock. One thing it was missing, however, was Meyer's production value.
