appalling movie (spoilers)

not much in the movie made sense, as far as i can see.

for example...

the whole psychic angle ended up being irrelevant because the investigation didn't learn anything from this supposed skill.

the wife and child were in mortal peril because the psychic guy had an affair with psycho FBI agent... and yet, they lived happily ever after?

why could NONE of the cops shoot straight? Don't they have weapons training courses in that state?
