Does Roy Recovered or Not?

I'd like to think that Roy recovered in the end, but there's only Alexandria's monologue about him. She could be talking about the time he's still doing the job, or she's actually telling that Roy has gotten back on his feet?

If I wasn't mistaken, in one scene, the doctor told Roy that he's getting better. He's most probably not paralyzed but only felt so desperate about losing his girl that he decided to not getting back on his feet (both literally and figuratively), right?

So, does he recovered or not? Yes, right?

It's ambiguous on purpose and technically there is no right or wrong answer to your question. If you think he recovered, than that's how the movie ended for you. Some people might think he didn't though and that Alexandria just thought he did/was imagining she saw him in that moving picture that she watched over and over and over - and that's how it ended for them. According to the audio commentary with the director, he did it that way on purpose - to leave it up to the viewer to make their own decision on whether the end was truth or not 

Personally, I'm an optimist so I'm with you in that I think he did eventually recover from his injury.

Agent Hill: ...Then aliens invaded New York and were beaten back, by among others, a giant green monster, a costumed hero from the 40's.... and a god.

Agent Ward: I don't think Thor is technically a god.

Hill: Well...you haven't been near his arms.

The doctor most likely told Roy he was getting better because .. well, that's what doctors do all the time.

If the ending is true, we still see Roy in a wheelchair in the last scene. So no guarantee he will ever (fully) recover physically, but well on his way to recover emotionally.

As the poster above stated, the ending is pretty much up to yourself to choose. I see the ending as real, and that he can watch his own accident and laugh shows at least some recovery - much more important than the physical one, if you ask me.

In a behind the scene, Tarsem said to Cantinca: "and then you get up with Roy, and then you both cry a little bit. And that's the end of the story."

As we know that's not how it went, so I believe it was changed during the editing - but I still believe Roy recovered in the end. At least we know from that BTS that Tarsem intended for Roy to get up again

I think he recovered. Most significantly through his relationship with Alexandria he developed some emotional resilience.

no, he didn't. Alexandria was imagining every other stuntman as Roy, just like she was imagining a monkey as Wallace. injuries sustained by Roy were too serious to be recovered.

Awwww, this is so sad to hear. :(

Only just saw the film and just curious - don't the doctors say in one scene: "there is nothing wrong with his back"..? They were talking about Roy, weren't they?
From that scene I took it that Roy was never paralyzed and only felt that way because of his broken heart....And in my world he did recover and is a stuntman in all those films Alexandria watches in the end... XD
