Can anyone give me any titles of other movies about sailing that would be as good as this. I'd really like to see a documentary on Bernard Moitessier!
shareNot as good, but The Dove http://imdb.com/title/tt0071438/ is about a teenager who set out to sail around the world on his own. I read the book when I was young and the movie is decent, but not anything special.
A non-fiction book I really like is "My Old Man and the Sea" about a father/son team that sail around the world.

A couple other amazing books somewhat like this movie except that they deal with the aftermath of sinking vessels are Adrift, and In the Heart of the Sea. True stories both. Adrift is about one man's 76 days in an inflatable raft after his sailboat sinks. In the Heart of the Sea basically picks up where the events that inspired Moby Dick end (be warned, this story goes into cannibalism).

Thanks for the recommendations...I haven't read either of those, but I'll keep my eye out for them.
I checked my bookshelf (can't always remember the titles). I have a few other of those type of books that I haven't read yet...Lost at Sea, Abandon Ship (about the USS Indianapolis), and Custom of the Sea (also dealing with Cannabilism).
I have lots of real life sea adventures...some I've read, some I haven't yet. I love the genre.
I grew up on and around the ocean and my family has a long history of life on the ocean.
