Chay Blyth interview on the bonus features.

I thought the Chay Blyth mini movie on the DvD bonus features was amazing + they should make a movie about him. He was probably even more out on a limb than Crowhurst. Blyth was a madman!

I guess they only mentioned him in passing in the actual movie becuase his personal story might have upstaged the story that they were trying to tell about Donald Crowhurst.

Very cool though + the bonus features on this DvD were very well done.

[SPOILERS] My wife and I think this is hilarious - the guy had never sailed or navigated before and all he could think to do when he first went aboard his boat was to clean the cooker. He made it to the Cape of Good Hope but was so exhausted he saw Bing Crosby sitting in the cabin - and spoke to him. But: he learned from his experience and became one of the country's greatest adventurers. Quite a man.

I thought exactly the same thing when I watched his interview. What a character. The fact that he actually went away and learnt to sail and did the reverse solo circumnavigation a few years later is just incredible.

Of all the sailors in the race he looked like the most human of the bunch although Tetley looked like he might have been a laugh. The rest of them were all frankly a bit weird.

He deserves his own doco I reckon.
